Outlook question

Anybody here know how to recall a message in Outlook after it already has been sent? I know it can be done because somebody tried it with me. Sent the boss a nasty letter and didn’t mean to.

Thanks

also note, if you use the help index in these programs, you’re sure to get answers. i typed in “recall sent mail”, and the above is what i got.

I have Outlook Express here at home, so I clicked on “help”. Unfortunately, when I looked up “recall” in the index, it came up with instructions about how to recall a message from a message board; not sent mail. I don’t use Outlook at home.

We use Outlook at work, and I’ve recalled messages from time to time; but I don’t remember how.

Since it will be at least 90 minutes before I get to work, and you probably want to recall the message post-haste, try going to the “help” menu. I seem to remember that the recall option is in the “tools” menu. But check “help” to be sure.

Good luck.

that’s right, i’m soooouuuuuuulsliiiiiiiiing, quick as a blink.

Oblong, I believe that the “recall message” function only works if the recipient also has Outlook and is logged in at the time of the recall (although it has sometimes failed for me even when I know for sure that the person is logged in).

and keep in mind that if they’ve read the email already, it may still be recalled, but they’ll still have a copy of the read message, so you won’t know if they’ve read it or not. Happens with one of our clients here at work all the time. they recall messages they screwed up, and we’ve already read them, so we get a notice that it was recalled but can still read the original email.

If the recepients messages are stored on the server and the server is always on, will it still work? I just sent the message 2 minutes before I posted this and tried it righta fter the first reply. My boss is in Australia and is sleeping right now so that isn’t a problem. Maybe I better polish up the resume.

Thanks for the help.

good luck.
