I haven’t stayed up all night since graduating college two years ago, but I sleep last “night” at around 4:00am (I’ve been battling insomnia as of late).
I’m 52. I’ve toned it down quite a bit over the past several years, but was out until about 5:30am (Monday) at the Pride Day Parade this year. I left my apartment about 2pm on Sunday. Monday was already set up as "personal day’ off from work. And on Saturday night Sunday morning this past Labor Day weekend I got home around 5:00am.
So twice this year. That’s proabaly enough. It’s not as easy to bounce back as it was 20-30 years ago. It’s still fun though.
Way, way before my time, it was a 60-acre dairy farm. With the onslaught of development, Hubby had to get rid of the cows, and his Dad sold all but 20 acres. He cuts hay for a “side” job.
FCM - I remember all about punching Fortran IV programs on cards. You reminded me of the night when we had to go down to the soils lab to put some more weight on the sample (we were studying consolidation). My partner ended up dropping one of the weights on her toe  .
I’m 43, and I stay up all night three or four nights a week. Of course, I’m a cop on graveyard (6pm-6am), so they pay me to do it.
I’m 46, and even the thought of staying up all night (regardless of the reason) makes me want to puke…literally. Unless I’m tucked in bed by around 10.30/11.00 pm, waking up in the morning is accompanied by an urgent need to hurl…it doesn’t help that I CAN’T sleep in beyond about 5.00 am of course.
God, I yearn for the halcyon days of my youth…when bedtime was sometime after the sun rose, and brekkie was taken just before heading out for another night on the town.
Never. However, I have a feeling that that will change later in this semester.
The last time was a couple months ago, I was working on one of my spare computers. Learning how to set up Linux, Firebird, Apache and Perl for a web based database. I just kept making coffee and working on it till everything was working (not actually talking to each other but functioning), I took a short break at sunrise to sit in the back yard and watch the birds wake up. I haven’t done any thing with it yet, but it’s a fun project. I turned 48 in August, so I’m not just a geek but and old geek.
A couple of weeks ago, when my band played a show down in Norfolk. I stayed out at the club till 3. Since I normally get up at 5, I figure that counts as an all-nighter.
43 I am.
I’ve never stayed up all night. Once, I went camping and only slept a couple of hours, but otherwise, I managed to get some sleep. I never saw the point of staying awake.
I’m 48, coming up on 49 quickly. I used to play video games at a friend’s house for the weekend… and I mean for the weekend. I’d pick up the friend from work about 11:00 PM, we’d go to his house and play Playstation until he’d go to bed at about 11:00 AM. By then, his housemates would be up and I’d play with them until he got up. The longest I was up was probably 60 or so straight hours on a long weekend. This stopped about 6 years ago, not because I didn’t want to but because he moved in with his girlfriend and her son… no more all nighters.
I sometimes get restless at home at about bedtime, so then I sometimes just go to work and work all night and the next day to catch up my paperwork. Since I don’t get paid overtime… I guess I do that for fun…
