overstock.com?

I’m moving in w/ my fiance in August, and we’ll need a few furniture items. Has anyone had any experiences with overstock.com? We found a lot of things we liked on there (which probably won’t be there when we actually need to buy them), and they were very cheap.

If you ordered anything from there, how was the quality? How long did they take to ship it to you? Any other experiences, good or bad?

Thanks

I’ve ordered some shoes from overstock. Arrived on time and no problems at all.

I’ve bought books & DVDs.

WOW!
GREAT PRICES!

Service a trifle slow, but no product problems.

I ordered some rings, a DVD boxed set, and a couple wireless mouses (mice?). No problems.

They aren’t bad. Read the reviews, but take them with a grain of salt. Good reviews on an item are a plus, but despite the frothy mouthed endorsements, no one is going to sell you an item “the same as ones costing $1500!!” for $300. No, what you got is a good $300 deal. Either these people are off their meds, or they have never seen hardwood furniture costing thousands. A more cynical person might even claim they are shills.

Anyway, back to my point. If you want something in between cheap department store furniture and more expensive pieces from one of the showroom stores, overstock.com is a good bet. Sometimes they have free shipping deals, and as I said, the quality is better than the cheaper dept. store lines.

Another site in this category is homedecorators.com. I’d recommend them in the same way.

Ordered a comforter and some 600 count sheets. The prices were better than the chain stores (Bed Bath and Beyond, Lines and Things, etc), everything was delivered as promised, and the quality was good.

I purchased my last digital camera form them. I saved about $150.

I have ordered from overstock.com many times, I’ve gotten sheets, linens, digital camera, jewelry, books and DVDs (you can guess where I do my Xmas shopping by now). The shipping has always been very quick and inexpensive, and I’ve never run into a problem. When I needed to return an item they were pretty quick to send a call tag too. However, I’ve not ordered furniture from them before, so I cannot comment on that. Still, nothing but positive experiences here so far.

Thanks! I was a bit apprehensive, because I tend not to order things online, unless it’s a DVD or something that would be the same no matter where I got it. I like to see what I’m getting in person, but you often find better deals on the net.

I’ve bought some expensive (several hundred dollars’ worth) of stuff from Overstock.com, and never have a problem with any of them. A bonus is that they apparently have a distribution center in Northern California, so I usually get my stuff in three days or less – which is a lot faster than what Amazon.com does for me…

I’ve had my first semi-bad shopping experience with Overstock.com twelve days ago. I ordered some books that never arrived after waiting THREE weeks for 'em. I got in touch with Overstock.com’s customer service department… eventually they replaced some of my books and refunded my money for the items they couldn’t replace. So, one bad exerience in twenty-odd transactions in three years. Before that I would have given them an unmixed enthusiastic approval. Now, it’s still an enthusiastic approval, I just don’t they’re damn near perfect anymore.

I’ve bought a few books and DVDs from Overstock, and I definitely plan on buying more. My items alway arrive in a few days and in great condition.

When I saw the linky, I went looking for dining tables on overstock.com. However, when I checked the FAQ to see what their returns policy was on furniture, it says that you need to check the box over before accepting delivery, and REFUSE THE DELIVERY if anything’s wonky. Like, say, a corner that’s stove in.

Otherwise you’re SOL if you don’t like it or something’s broken.

Given this, I think I shall be purchasing my dining set from a local store, hopefully one that does allow furniture returns…

I have ordered books and DVD’s off of Overstock.com before, and every time the service was fast, and the books came in unharmed and unmarked. They were pretty cheap too! I have no experience with the furniture end of Overstock, but their book and DVD sections were impeccable.

Same thing, here.

The ones I ordered were 1000 thread count, and I was a little leery, because the price was incredibly low compared to what I’d been seeing in stores. However, when delivered, the sheets were of very good quality-- better than I’d hoped, actually.

To be fair, ordering furniture over the mail (internet or otherwise) is IMO one of those things that doesn’t really work in practice.
