Ow! Bloody toenails-slightly TMI

So I’m trimming my toenails last night, and somehow I managed to cut down too far on one of them, and my toe starts bleeding. I don’t mean just a few drops, we’re talking a big ol’ river of blood. I put a bandaid on-within seconds, the entire bandaid is bright red and leaking. So I took that one off and tried soaking my foot for a little while. Nope, still spouting.

So I dry my foot, put on another bandaid-immediately starts turning red. I put on another, and another. I went through almost the entire box (which wasn’t full, to be fair), and limped up to bed.

I wake up this morning, the whole setup is red. sigh I took out the remaining few bandaids, and had to cut the old one with scissors to get it off. And now it’s red, too. STOP BLEEDING, DAMMIT!!!

I hate my toenails.

Well, to be fair, I reckon you attacked them first.

Never fails, though, does it? Small injury >>> blood leaking out entusiastically >>> “Oh, no problem- find bandaid” >>> "Oh hell, I am still leaking blood at quite a rate >>> more bandaid … repeat until bored, and possibly bloodless. :frowning:

Hey, at least you were at home - my most recent cut was (I suppose) in grabbing a supermarket trolley, and, hoping to stem this bloodleak in a makeshift way with a tissue from my pocket, thought it sad that my first intended mission was an important bit of photocopying, then, of course, paying with my non-bloody hand … . Of course, it did stop as soon as I went to where the elastoplast is …
(And there’s always that little feeling of "hell, I am not five years old, I am adult, I should be able to do stuf without puncturing myself. :smack: )

Warning: this is kind of gross.

My feet are way screwed up. (Luckily they don’t look like it)

Last summer I was painting my toenails before I went on a trip to Florida. Took off the old coat, trimmed my nails. I went to trim off what I thought was a little dead skin on my right big toe (get it all the time from ill-fitting shoes), and of course it’s an infected blistery thing. Pus everywhere. Clean it up, looks okay, except there is nothing behind the top 1/2 of my toenail. Just a hole. Got sand in it in Florida, but the hole was healed inside so it was just like a little pocket. It’s still sort of there, a bit grew back, and the nail still grows, just seems like it grows slower.

I also get a lot of in-grown toenails and stuff. A couple of my aunts had to get their big toe nails removed because they were always ingrown. They now paint the hardened skin where the nail was. Can’t really tell unless you look closely.

Also got a blister on one foot after spending a 12-hour day in Chuck Taylors at Warped Tour. Popped it and it left a hole in my foot (about 1mm wide, 2mm deep?) for months.

And I also accidently cut my feet pretty often, and they do bleed a lot. Not as bad as the OPs though.

If I could, I’d have all my toenails removed-I HATE trimming them, and they get all jagged and rough.

For now it’s still sore, but hopefully it’s stopped bleeding. I’m almost afraid to check.

I take asprin everyday, and it DOES thin your blood. The slightest scratch for kitty starts bleeding. I cut my SO’s toenails once and a while and always seem to nick her and make her bleed. She dosen’t let me do it much anymore.
