Only rare game I know I own is Wing Commander: The Kilrathi Saga for the PC. According to ebay, it is currently going for $150 for a used copy, up to $500 for a never opened copy.
There were only 10,000 copies printed.

Some of you have odd definitions of RARE. If you could buy it in a retail store when it first came out, it’s not rare. Chrono Trigger on SNES may sell for a lot on the used market but it’s by no means rsre. Rare are games you have to work hard to even find the ABILITY to buy. The rarest VG I ever owned was the grey version of the Nintendo Tournament NES cart - it had SMB1, Rad Racer and Tetris, and I believe there were only a couple hundred made, since they were sent out to regional tournament sites. When I fell on some hard times a couple years ago, I ebayed it for $280.
I also ebayed the original PSX release of Final Fantasy Tactics for $88. There was a greatest hits version out in stores but it amazes me how much fanboys hate that green stripe…
I think the rarest game I own is Legend of Mana. I don’t know how rare it is but I remember when I asked for it for my birthday when it came out my dad couldn’t find any copies in BC and ended up having to order it from Ontario. So I’d imagine it’s at least somewhat rare. And it doesn’t look like any of the ones being sold on ebay have the English & French manuals of the Canadian version. Though I’ve no clue if that really makes it rarer or more valuable.
I agree that Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy, etc. are common as dirt (as if it isn’t evident by now from the 800 copies just in this thread), but there’s gotta be something in between “common” and nearly “one-of-a-kind.” In my opinion, 50,000 copies.
I have no idea how much they’re worth, but I’ve still got all of my old CRPGs dating back to the '80s:

[li]The entire Ultima series (except the first, I only have the 1986 re-release)[/li][li]The entire Might & Magic series[/li][li]The first few AD&D “Gold Box” games[/li][li]The Bard’s Tale trilogy[/li][/ul]
And a bunch of other stuff between then and now.
The only thing I can think of is MAYBE my Majora’s Mask gold cart, but given how much Zelda sells at release those are probably as common as dirt.
Super Mario RPG is probably it for me, too. And I got it used, sans box and in somewhat poor condition, as it was from a rental store that was going out of business.
