Clearly, this never would have happened if the gun nuts all had guns to defend themselves with.
That’s probably a bit of an understatement. Just a guess here.
The NRA immediately demanded an armed guard for every gun owner in America.

Yeah. From what I’ve heard of them, the guys who make these videos are gun nuts in a more literal way than is usually meant. The sort whose lasts words you expect to be something like “Hey, watch this!”
What’s with the MagLite on the barrel of that AR-dirivative?
Live by the gun…

Homemade silencer if I had to take a guess, but I don’t see any holes or anything in it.
Either that, or it’s mounted next to it (like a bayonet) and it just looks like it’s mounted on the end.
ETA, it’s a 'Mag Light suppressor"
The details are online with him showing how to make it if you care to look for them.
It’s how he would’ve wanted to go.
maybe he shot himself?

OK, I was curious and found websites and videos describing how to make such a silencer, and while I have no experience or interest in guns, it’s a neat bit of homemade engineering.

Interesting, and effective.
Silencers are legal to own in this state (in accordance with federal regulations applying thereto), but it’s illegal to actually put one on a gun. Weird, eh?
I’m curious-Are there any shooting competitions involving silencers/suppressors?

What immediately flashed into my mind upon reading this sentence was a walnut trying to shoot a gun while another walnut films it.

I expect the video will be uploaded any time now

Are you sure that’s the actual law? I always thought it was illegal to own a bullet proof vest and a few weeks ago (as part of a bigger discussion), I looked it up.
Turns out, in Wisconsin, it’s legal to own a bullet proof vest, but if you have one on while committing a crime it’ll add the word "Aggravated’ to the beginning of whatever you did.
Actually, I don’t think that’s exactly how it works. A cop relative of mine looked at the code and explained it to me. It basically takes what you did and steps it up to the next level. If you walk into a store and shoot someone, it’s hard to prove you were simply defending yourself when you oddly prepared for the attack.
Looking at Wisconsin laws on silencers, unless you’re a LEO or in the armed forces, you probably shouldn’t have one in your possession.

And now what I’m picturing is this guy with a pith helmet and elephant gun.

I thought of that too, but then I remembered that peanuts are not literally nuts. He makes a good gun legume, though.
