I have been waxing my own eyebrows for quite some time. Today, while in the middle of applying the molten wax, I slipped and got it all over my eyebrow instead of where I wanted it.
So, now what do I do? I pulled off as much of the wax as possible, and half of my eyebrow is now missing, but there is still wax that refuses to come off without taking my remaining hairs with it. Anyone have a solution as to how to remove the excess wax?
I’m assuming you’re using real wax, not one of those sugaring products.
Inky-'s suggestion is a good one, I think you should try that too. If that doesn’t do the trick, a little baby oil on a Q-tip may help the wax get unstuck from your eyebrow hairs.
And stop picking! You’ll irritate your skin and get a scabby.
If you’re willing to pencil in your eyebrows for a while, you can re-apply warm (not too hot, since the area will already be sensitive) wax over the stuck area and re-wax, removing the excess wax along with the added wax.
But try the baby oil first - that’s a much nicer solution.
Definitely try the baby oil. The kit I use (Sally Hansen) comes with a tiny bottle of “Azulene Finishing Oil” specifically to remove excess wax (and to pamper your poor waxed skin after you rip the stuff off!).
I’ll try the baby oil. I did try the warm washcloth bit, but only succeeded in irritating already sensitive skin. So I do have a nice red spot where the hair use to be.
If you finish waxing off the mangled eyebrow and then get a nose ring, no one will notice as the hair grows back.
Not a perfect solution, but what in this life is perfect?
Also, lighter fluid, Bestine® or mineral spirits will take off that pesky wax. They are also highly inflamable, so if you’re smoking while you do this, run with a pencil. You’ll put your eye out.
(I’m only being this “helpful” because the thread is 12 hours old. I assume you have your condition rectified.)

I did this before. Actually…I do this all the time. What I find works best is to definitely get any kind of facial waxing done at a salon, a mistake-free waxing is just about guaranteed. But if it’s damaged beyond repair (yikes…) all you can do is wait for it to grow back in, and use a soft eyeliner that matches your brow color to pencil it back in. As Rue said, you’ve probably already remedied your problem, but it’s helpful for future knowledge.
