Ozark Season 4

We finished episode 7 last nite - alot to unpack in that episode.

I am a bit confused with the plan

I thought that the FBI was supposed to arrest javi (the offer of the same deal Omar got being a ruse to get him to meet) so that Omar could take back over - instead both Omar and Javi are working under a deal with the FBI? Who’s really in charge of the cartel at this point?

Wouldn’t the FBI now be aware of the deal with Shaw pharmaceutical ?

And boy - did Wendy screw the pooch with Omar…

As far as I can tell - Zeke is still in the truck

Re: Omar, AIUI

Maya got ticked off that the Feds were using the cartel for income instead of putting Omar behind bars and closing them down. So she went rogue, called in a few Staties for support, arrested him herself, and released the info to the press. Basically she dared her bosses to release him with the cameras pointed their way

I got all that - it was the second deal that is throwing me at the moment - but then I realize that its likely just an open thread for the second part to resolve.

I just started watching this but I’m only in S1 E 5. It’s the one where Jonah asks Marty how is money laundering done.

Seems really good! For you guys that are seasons ahead, how are you liking it?

I originally thought it as a low-rent Breaking Bad remake, but with more adrenaline. However, as the show has gone on, it actually has its own appeal and strength that go beyond BB. For example, both the children and the wife in Ozark are much stronger characters and far more germaine to the plot than they are in BB.

Not saying it’s better than BB, but it’s no longer low-rent.

Good to know. We only liked BB for 1.5 seasons. By the end of season 2 we were done with it.

Ruth is going to end up running Darlene’s poppy farm. Since Wyatt married Darlene, and Darlene was killed first, the farm passed to Wyatt, as her husband, and then to Three as Wyatt’s brother upon his death.

The opening scene in episode one (the crash scene), I don’t think we’ll get back around to until the end of Part 2 of season 4. So far so good, can’t wait till we see the finish.

I finished episode 7 last night…and was immensely disappointed to finally realize that Part 2 is yet to be released. Dumb me.

Julia Garner as Ruth has been outstanding since the beginning, but the scene in the Byrde’s house at the end of ep 7 gave me goosebumps and tears simultanously. She is amazing.

MiM

She is the entire reason I started watching this show - there was a youtube ‘clip’ video of the ‘best of Ruth’ - and she is the only character I am actively rooting for to survive thru the end.

My prediction is that the first scene of Season 4 is actually the series finale…

wouldn’t be surprised by that at all

Speaking of Ruth, this woman can take over if Julia doesn’t want to come back for some future reboot.

I thought it was about right. We’re halfway through the final season, and Darlene was a secondary villain. The next seven episodes can focus on the Byrdes trying to get out from under Javi’s thumb.

If “They all die in a random car wreck” is how this whole thing ends, I will be supremely pissed.

I thought the opening was kind of dumb, adding fake tension. But I guess one can look at it as saying “nobody in the family is going to die…YET”.

I mean, it depends on how its written. Wendy, triumphant, having won the family their safety through means probably evil. Her son, Jonah, still seething with resentment. He survives the crash relatively unharmed, has to decide between his family to save one… or two. Who does he save first? Who does he not save? Is there a decision he has to make between Wendy and his father? (I went back and rewatched the crash to see if they were all wearing seat belts - they were.)

I would not be surprised to see the crash close out the penultimate episode or open the finale. But it won’t end the show.

I just see it as karma - they have been fighting to survive for 4 seasons and alot of death has surrounded them - they finally get free of the cartel and things are finally looking at peace - heck, even Jonah and Wendy appear to be getting along there. Then WHAM - a relatively mundane accident and they are gone.

Of course- that could be how they get into witness protection too.

6 months later…new casino opens in Chicago. cue commercial

“Come to Martys Place Free Food and Drinks, 1st $100 of chips on the House”

Cant keep a good launderer down!

I figured they’d open a chain of fast food resturaunts, focusing on Hot/Fresh burgers made your way - they could call it…

Wendy’s
