Pacquiao wins!

Manny Pacquiao won a narrow decision over Juan Manuel Marquez in their third fight. AP is reporting that 2 judges had it for Pac and the 3rd judge had it a draw.

I didn’t see the fight; was it really that close in your opinion?

IMO, it wasn’t that close, but the other way. Marquez flat out got robbed.

I scored it 117-111 for Marquez. And based on chatter on a few of the fight forums, I wasn’t the only one who saw it that way.

Other than people who had a bet on Marquez you would be the only person on earth who scored him winning 9 rounds.

AP and ESPN both scored it 114-114.

I’m a big Pacquiao fan and I was kind of expecting him to destroy Marquez (like a lot of people) and wow this fight was completely unexpected.
I really don’t think that Glass Joe’s tally is too far off the mark. Marquez was in control for the most of the fight. Pacquiao could not get any combos in, getting countered when he tried and what can I say, it just seemed to me that Marquez had his number. And speaking of Marquez, what a performance. You could see the sheer concentration in his eyes for every second the fight. Maybe Manny made the same mistake everyone else did and just completely underestimated him and let his head get too big and not prepare the way he should have.
I don’t know. I think Marquez should’ve won UD. Maybe Pacquiao’s too marketable to lose or something but I think maybe one good outcome of this fight is that it could make Mayweather vs Pacquiao more likely.

The writers in the LVRJ are kinda pissed about the decision, with Ed Graney opining:

Trowbridge is the judge who scored the fight 116-112 in favor of Pacquiao.

My favorite part of his column tho was this:

Apparently there are quite a few people who think the judges were way off and that the decision should have gone to Marquez, or at best the fight should have been called a draw.

Will there be a 4th fight? It doesn’t look like either boxer’s schedule would let it happen for at least 2 more years, from what I’m reading.

at first i thought marquez was robbed but after watching it a second time, i’ll believe that pacquaio won the last 4 rounds convincingly.

which brings me to my main disppointment. i know that marquez is hard to knock out with pacquiao’s usual style (people were still expecting one though.) i was hoping coach freddie finally figured it out. but it turns out pacquiao’s main strategy was tire the 38-year old marquez and beat him on points in the last 4 rounds.

from rounds 1-8, i thought marquez won at least 5 rounds.
