A question for the admins:
I am wondering how the software decides to break a thread into a new page. Sometimes I post and my remarks appear at the top of a new page. This sometimes leads to a loss of context and inevitable confusion or even flaming.
There doesn’t seem to be any way to predict when the page will break, I’d avoid posting “across the break” if I could but I don’t see the logic to the breaks. Is it done by total post count in the thread, or some other means?

There are 50 posts to a page. The first page will contain the OP and 49 replies. If you don’t want to be the first post on a new page, just count the total posts.

dammit, why’d you have to make it so complicated?

I guess I should have counted. But it’s a little more complicated than that, if it’s an active thread, there could be a simulpost at 48, kicking you onto the next page anyway. Oh well…
