Now as you know there is a little celebration about me going on in the Pit, and as it happens I have an aversion to odd numbers. Or at least for the purposes of that thread.
However, I’ve noted the page count keeps changing. Now I understand that users can set different page lengths, but it happens to me! That is, I view a thread, any thread really, and say it has 6 pages. Return to it, no further posts, but it’s displayed at say four pages.
What is causing this madness? Is there any cure or am I doomed to be fooled?
Are you sure your settings haven’t been changed?
As a hijack, I’m wondering where exactly you’re posting from, if you don’t mind me asking? I’m pretty sure it’s in a desert…
It makes a big difference how you got to those threads, and whether you’re logged in. If you get there from the forum list, then you will see either your default setting or 50 posts per page, depending on if you’re logged in or not. However, if you get there from a link, it might be different. You can change the per-page setting in the URL, by setting “perpage=##”. As a demonstration, here are links to the Registration Agreement in:[ul][li]two pages[/li][li]three pages[/li][li]28 pages[/li]your default[/ul]
No I am talking about accessing mere minutes apart, I never edit my settings.
The Hashemite Kingdom at the moment.
I note your explanation below, and perhaps this is the case, but I have noted thread page counts changing when I refresh. Now this may be due to logging out, but insofar as to my knowledge I never changed from default, I am puzzled.
I don’t know the board policy, but it’s fairly easy to find a thread with any old number of posts that you want. Go to MPSIMS or some other really big forum. Go to the purple stripe at the bottom and change the three select boxes to “number of replies”, “descending” and “the beginning”. Then pick “go”. If you want threads with exactly, say, 100 replies, they’re on page 18 currently.
