There’s still some way to go to determine the payouts and level of liability.
The company is stating that it could not have predicted the amount of damage - thereby inferring that they had carried out an adequate risk assessment.
Personally I think they are screwed, because if they were not able to envisage the possible worst case scenario, then by default, the risk assessment was not sufficient.
Me, I think they have probably used the worst defence they could have.
Fierra’s house was insignificantly damaged, and has since been sold. Thank you for asking and informing, however.
