Palabra jot?

Ages ago, when I was in elementary school, I remember watching some kind of kid’s show. I can’t remember what the main character looked like but the theme song went something like:

“The club, the club, the club the club the club!
Palabra jot! Palabra jot!”

So my questions are, in order of importance:

  1. WTF does “palabra jot” mean? Palabra is spanish for “word” isn’t it?

  2. What’s the name of this show?

The show I believe was The Write Club and the ‘host’ was a grasshopper I thought of some sort?

The first half of the show (they were only 15 minutes long as I recall) was sentence improvement stuff and the second half used the palabra jot (palabra is Spanish for word) intro where they would read the beginning of a story, and you were encouraged to finish it and send it in.

Along these lines, I used to love to be home sick so I could watch all the great educational shows on PBS: Mulligan Stew, Metric System, Letter People (okay, this one I did hate), and some other funky writing one where three kids got ‘abducted’ to the planet of Maze and had to solve puzzles to get out (this was but a small part of the overall story).

There are actually a few others, but they have all become a jumbled mess over the years.
