Palestinians in the West Bank: Fuck You!

You’re a liar, **Monty. Are you too stupid to read the sententence where I said, in boldface, “I have no ill will to muslims in general.”? I am repeatedly on record here as DEFENDING Musloims against racist comments. But people rejoicing in the deaths of my countrymen strikes me as being wrong.
As for your attempt to draw moral equivalence between Palestine and the US, ask yourself when you saw little kids in America being handed guns and told to shoot Jews, when did you see Americans dancing in the streets and celebrating the deaths of Afghan or Palestinian civilians?

Fuck, Monty, if you approve of people dancing and laughing over the deaths of Americans, you’re a traitor.

Just a little perspective - unless I’m completely wrong, which happens sometimes.

To my knowledge, the celebration happened early on, when the only information the Palestinians had was something to the effect of “there was a successful attack on American sites.” They didn’t know, at that point, that the WTC had been destroyed, or that the people who were killed were mostly innocent civilians. The U.S.A. were really demonized during the Gulf War, so people there mostly saw this as a strike against what they see as the enemy.

And I do recall people cheering away in bars when Baghdad was first bombed in 1991. And I do believe innocent lives were lost there too.

That said, if anyone was knowingly celebrating the deaths of thousands of people, they are truly sick.

Oh for fucks sake, that’s too cheap a shot for words. What sort of McCarthy’esque tactic is this? Anyone who accuses you of being wrong is a traitor? Here’s Monty’s quote in full:

Drop the histrionics, and stop fucking throwing the word traitor around - you’ve used it three times in this thread already.

Monty, you can call me names all you like, but war was declared on our nation yesterday. Thousands of people were murdered by faceless assassins. The people who celebrated that are your enemies and the enemies of your nation. I have sympathy or mercy on people who want to kill me. I’ll leave that to cowards like you.

Gary Kumquat, I respect you and don’t wish to get into an argument with you, as well. Monty called me an “ignorant fucking racist” for being angry at the West Bank celebrations. He is attempting to draw moral equivalence between the US and the hijackers. He is sympathetic to the enemies of his country. What word would be appropriate to describe him?

I can deal with being wrong, I’ve apologized when that has been so (and it has) but I’m not wrong in this instance. Anyone who approves or sympathizes with the murderers of thousands of Americans deserves every ounce of contempt I can muster, and that includes the dancing assholes in Nablus.

That should read, “I have no sympathy or mercy on those who want to kill me.”

Oh, and histrionics? GaryK, you are sitting comfortably in tthe UK watching this unfold on TV. I saw the Pentagon burning from my office window yesterday and I spent the day worried sick about friends of mine who work there (They’re OK). The hijackers attacked my neighborhood, my home, my friends, so forgive me if I lack your calm perspective.

gobear, I think the gist of Monty’s statement was not that you can’t feel anger towards celebrating Palestinians. He implied that taking that small example as representative for the entire Palestinian population is wrong. Your defense includes blanket statements that do NOT apply to all Palestinians. Someone taking offense to that isn’t automatically a “traitor” or “defending Americas enemies”. He is being the voice of reason.

Not all Palestinians are celebrating. And not all Palestinians are “enemies of the USA”.

Having said all that, all I can really do is repeat what andros said: take a deep breath, and let this go. It will accomplish nothing. Your anger is understandable, but you’re aiming it in the wrong direction right now.

I just drove by the house down the street-the family LOST their ONLY son (15 years old) on AA flight 11. I have to say that now, I have NO SYMPATHY of any kind for those palestinian scum that were dancing in the streets.I only hope Israel decides to wipe them out totally-maybe then there might be peace on this planet. And as for the afghanis who harbored this Osamabi Ladeen-fuck you-you are all going to die, hopefully soon!

That was really helpful too, buddy1.

And we can call it the Final Solution! See, we tell everybody in the Palastinian refugee camps that they have to take a shower and, while they’re in there, we gas 'em.

OK, I’ll be quiet. I know I am seeing events through a filter of rage, and am not being entirely reasonable.

Well said, gobear. It’s a tough time for everybody, and I know people are going to have very angry thoughts. I’m glad you were able to see that.

What possible basis could you have for saying this?

It’s okay – and even understandable – to be upset, to be angry, to be frustrated.

It’s NOT okay to vent those negative feelings towards a certain group or person.

Take that energy and turn it around for good; put it to use somewhere, either in the affected cities or right where you are.

We will not tolerate hate speech, regardless of the circumstances.
