Palin says Obama would kill her baby

Cake, please!

It turns out Sarah Palin was for death panels before she was against them :

From what Rand Rover, curlcoat, and those yelling at the town halls have been saying, I assume they don’t think that what private companies do is rationing. After all, if you weren’t so lazy, you could just pay for it out of pocket and not steal the money out of the pockets of actual hard working Americans.

Here’s a nice editorial from Joe Conason.

Palin says Palin would kill her baby.

It’s a Palin on Palin DEATHMATCH!

This is really weak. It looks like she was “for” providing elderly people with free advice on putting together a statement of how they wanted to be treated come dyin’ time. That has nothing to do with how the US federal government would ration care under UHC.

Where have I said anything at all about rationing?

But everything to do with the part of the health care plan that Palin specifically associated with “death panels”; the voluntary end of life counseling.

I thought the “death panels” comment was about rationing. I may be wrong. I may read what Palin wrote again, but I honestly have read enough raving moron shit here on the SDMB today, so I don’t think I can stomach it.

That’s all the federal bill does. It’s exactly the same provision.

Insurance companies already ration care, you fucking halfwit. The Democrats’ bill only evaluates the efficacy of spicific treatments. It does not evaluate individuals.

She was for death panels before she was against them. Healthcare is already rationed.

You are wrong. She was referring to a provision that would allow funding for end of life counselling for those who desired it. It’s purely voluntary, and does not allow the government to make a single end of life decision. Palin is completely making shit up. She’s not even distorting the truth, she’s inventing it out of whole cloth. There isn’t even a misunderstood factual kernel behind her “death panel” fantasies.

Looks like she was talking about rationing to me:

Also, I am abundantly aware that the current system also involves rationing. But the rationing works through the market, which is a much better system of rationing than fiat.

Actually, she’s probably borrowing it from whole Clothathump.

Jesus Ass-scratching Christ. You’re using Palin to support herself?

The part of the bill she was talking about has nothing to do with rationing. It’s not relevant that she said it does. It doesn’t.

"The Senate Finance Committee will drop a controversial provision on consultations for end-of-life care from its proposed healthcare bill, its top Republican member said Thursday.

The committee, which has worked on putting together a bipartisan healthcare reform bill, will drop the controversial provision after it was derided by conservatives as “death panels” to encourage euthanasia."

Also, note the use of the term ‘conservatives.’ A rather odd term in context, but if the article were to use the name ‘Sarah Palin’ it might suggest that a portion of the Democrats’ health care rationing scheme could have been neatly derailed by two Facebook posts by that woman.

There is no “health rationing scheme,” and the provision in question was put in by a Republican, not the Democrats. Too bad. It was a good provision? What do you idiots have against end of life counselling?

I’m just reading words on the internet. She didn’t mention any part of any bill. She did mention rationing. Therefore, I surmised that she is talking about rationing. Guess I’m crazy though cuz Dio disagrees with me.

You surmise incorrectly. It’s meaningless that Palin mentioned rationing. She simply didn’t know what the fuck she was talking about because she’s a fucking imbecile.

I think dropping it is great. While at the same time bordering on tragic. Extreme ambivalence…how strange.

If dropping the provision will shut the “deathers” up, then it’s totally worth it. It’d be really nice to have some health-reform substance on the nightly news rather than blithering idiocy…
