Palin's out. Anyone surprised?

Palin has announced she’s not running.

Is anyone surprised? Does it mean anything for any of the extant candidates? Maybe a sigh of relief for Perry?

The Republican field is still so crowded that I don’t think her non-presense is a major factor. I’d say the biggest result will be other candidates seeking her endorsement.

Only surprising thing is she didn’t milk it a little bit longer.

Yeah, honestly that shocked me. I was expecting some sort of big hullaballoo and THEN an announcement. I wouldn’t have been surprised had she run (and I was hoping for it. I’m to the point where I find the goings-on on the GOP side incredibly entertaining), but I’m definitely surprised there was so little fanfare. She said no in a letter!

No. There was a time I was positive she would run, but the longer she dragged her feet and trolled by trying to upstage other candidates, the more I figured she was just trying to extend her stay in the limelight and was not interested in doing the work that goes into a campaign. Seems like it’s not working very well at this point. Some people love her, but a lot of her fans have moved on to other, similar candidates- some of whom are more experienced and most of whom are more disciplined.

I figured she wasn’t running back when she bailed as governor, so can’t say I’m surprised.

I believe the first dates by which candidates have to sign up for primaries are in mid-October, so she’s pretty much milked it for as long as she possibly could.

In typical Sarah fashion, she timed it to put an end to Christie’s news cycle.

For the rational? Sure. But you don’t have to check out too many far-right boards to realize there is a reasonably large group of potential book-buyers and reality-TV-watchers that would have kept talk about “when Sarah announces” for months still.

One more milestone on this road apple’s rolling journey to irrelevance.

To what end? Christie’s not running either.

Conservative checking in. Not the least bit surprised and very glad to hear it as well.

Doesn’t matter. Somebody else wasn’t running and was getting press for it. That’s Sarah’s press, mind you.

Maybe now the lamestream media will ignore her and quit asking her gotcha questions so she can fade away into the Alaskan winter where she belongs.

Lawrence O’Donnell scooped everyone months ago:

The video in the link is about 15 minutes, but well worth watching to get the whole context.

In equally surprising news, I’d also like to announce that I’m not seeking the GOP nomination for president.

I’m thinking about it. I’ll make my announcement sooner or later.

Does this mean the “One Nation” tour bus is up on cinder blocks in Wasilla?

Frankly, I’m surprised she didn’t pull a LeBron James, demand her own special on Fox News and spend an hour creating false drama leading up to her “decision.”

Maybe it’s got to do with her frequent trips to “Coon Rapids”.

HUZZAH!!!

Unlike Bachmann she actually had a serious chance of getting the nomination but fortunately she will not run. Thankfully the Republican candidate will be either Romney (whom I tolerate) and Perry (whom I barely tolerate).
