This is a lie. Look at adorable panda!
They have her playing on her slide now.
I just came across this thread and I love Panda’s. Mom and baby are playing together right now.
It makes me sad that they have to live in captivity, in such a small cage, on a hard concrete floor. It seems baby couldn’t get very comfortable on the concrete bed.
If any of you have been watching this very long, do they ever take them out on softer ground?
They had a crib for Lin Ping originally, like a baby’s crib. She may have outgrown that. She looks pretty comatose right now, though, at about 2am. Not sure what that little bed is made from.
When the parents are out on display, the enclosure is a pretty good size, with lots of wood and tires and stuff to climb around on, on different levels. I have some photos from last year I’ll have to load and link to. Haven’t seen the snow house linked to above. I believe the baby has been on public display so far only one three-day weekend, maybe about three months ago. They’ve kept her under wraps since then. She’s getting pretty good care really and seems to enjoy playing with her attendants.
I don’t see anything! Not even a blank video screen. What gives?
Dunno. I’m watching her now.
I should point out, too, the entire country is in love with the pandas and follow their every move. In addition to this Web cam, there’s the aforementioned 24-hour TV channel that I think focuses on the parents, not sure.
The panda family has been getting SO much attention that elephant handlers have not only complained their animals were being ignore, but also painted their elephants to look like pandas!
(That link says the pandas’ snow house was 20 million baht, a third of what was mentioned before. I believe the earlier figure is correct.)
I saw what you did there.
Close to 10am here, and they’ve just strung up a couple of tires on a rope and put her back in the cage. We’ve heard they’ve been trying to teach her to climb trees and stuff like a regular panda. This is probably part of that.
This seems to be a regular playtime, this time of day. They have set out all of her toys and are playing with her.
Well, the tires are not strung up high, so I guess they’re not to help teach her to climb. But she seems to be enjoying them.
There are no photos to link to yet, but over the past week or so they’ve been taking Lin Ping, the baby, out into an enclosure to teach her how to climb trees. A nice-looking grassy area from the photos in the paper, and attracting quite a crowd to watch.
I dunno.
Maybe you’re watching the microwave.
No! Don’t microwave panda!
Panda Cam has brought my whole family so much joy. That sounds goofy but it’s true. All of us check in a few times a day every day. Right now the baby is playing with a lot of big toys. She’s taken a big brightly colored dump truck over to the corner to gnaw on it a while.
It’s really a cheery little bit of happiness in my day. Thank you for sharing.
You’re welcome.
She turns 7 months old in a couple of weeks and has grown so much just since I started watching her.
Yep, I also gotta thank you for drawing my attention to the Panda Cam. I keep it running most of the time in the back ground while I’m on the computer. I giggle a lot watching the little bugger when she is in a manic, feisty state, trying to escape, which they have been working on fixing, and chasing the staff around while they try to wear her out. Her and mom put on quite a show when they are together.
I keep wondering what’s the food they give them, that looks like big ole turds.
Watching them gives me big smiles and giggles, which I desperately need these days.
It doesn’t work on any computer I try it on…except in IE. Is this panda cute enough for me to risk IE for?
Yes. Yes, it is.
She’s slightly younger than I thought. I was thinking she was born in mid-May, but it was May 27, so it was just last Friday she turned 6 months.
This is probably the most scrutinized panda in the history of the species. All of Thailand is in love with her. First thing each morning on the local news on every channel, they give an overview of her activities of the previous day. And the newspaper yesterday (Thursday) said to date, she’s been responsible for raising 500 million baht (US$15 million) for the zoo.
I do see some turds in there from time to time, but they’re pretty quick about cleaning it up. She’s still feeding off of Mama but is also eating some bamboo. Do you mean that orange stick-looking thing she keeps gnawing on? Not sure what that is, but she seems to be just chewing on it rather than eating it.
She’s chewing on that right now. Almost looks like a carrot.
EDIT: The wife just said it’s a fake carrot.
Yeah I thought the orange thing was a carrot also, but she never ate it. Do panda’s eat carrots?
I’m pretty sure the things I’m seeing from time to time aren’t really turds, they’re too big and several of them. Whatever it is, it’s shaped sort of like an avacado, only more longated.
There are times like right now, that when I go to the cam, it just says ready, but when I click to play it just goes back to ready. So maybe they are doing maintenance or something.
She sure is clumsy when she gets to playing around, but dog gone cute to watch.
Another panda cam here. This one is in color.
