yay, I finally get to read this thread!
Some of my observations–as 21-year-old big time fan of the Beatles, I was thrilled to hear her recite their discography. Almost her own “litany of fear.” She could just be like me and have parents who were big-time Beatles fans and have picked her taste in music from them.
I wondered how the calvary came at the end. I think the police officer who talked to her the most was getting bad vibes from her. Or else, the 911 call was traced to her (I have a funny story about the persistence of police when responding to a 911 call, even one that’s cut off, but that’s for another time). I could see how gallant Mr. Officer recognized the address from his previous visit and figured some pretty bad shit was going down.
I kept thinking that the daugher was planning to inject Dwight Yoakum’s (ditto on him being a good SOB in both this movie and Sling Blande) character with insulin, too. But then, maybe Joe Q. Moviegoing public wouldn’t have understood that.
I kept thinking that Jodie Foster’s character would say “yes” to the question “is there anyone else in the house” and then proceed to describe Forrest Whitaker character (as a caretaker or security guard or something). They split the bearer bonds, and everyone is happy. But then, I guess I’m a sucker for sappy endings.
