Papa John claims health care reform is too expensive

If he ignores the challenge, all it means is that he ignored the challenge.

If he ignores the challenge, I’ll forever ignore his assertion that I’m “safe” because the board is full of people who agree with me. That implies intellectual cowardice on my part.

So, my response to that is a cage match.

Anyone who wants to state an intellectual disagreement has every means available to avoid being shouted down- just request a one on one debate. With only a skeleton set of rules.

Honestly, you could just debate me right here. Just because there are other posters on the thread doesn’t mean your posts disappear. But if you need to be accommodated because the audience participates and is slanted against your positions, fine. I’m hardly an intellectual weakling and I do enjoy a good debate. I just haven’t had a substantive one with a conservative in a long time because they tend to avoid substance, facts, or staying on topic.

Also, Czarcasm, thanks for doing me the courtesy of completely ignoring my request not to post in that thread. That’s mighty nice of you.

Any time, dude. So far, it’s just you vs. the empty chair, and Eastwood already did that.

Except in the Eastwood example, Obama wasn’t actually there to sit down and debate him.

All I’ve done is pull out the chair. Bricker can sit down or ignore the invite at his leisure. But if he deliberately ignores the challenge, I’m going to take his posts a whole lot less seriously in the future.

Welcome to the club. We have a secret handshake and everything.

I do want to say that the self-restraint of posters who were specifically disinvited from the discussion and are ignoring that request is breathtaking for a forum that claims to** fight ignorance.

**And the contributions to the discussion are so pertinent and necessary, I can’t see why anyone would think I shouldn’t bend the rules for posts of such quality.

They thought you would be serving free pizza to the first 25 posters.

If all you’re planning to serve is Bricker’s ass on a platter, and he shows up, the peanut gallery might still pipe down long enough to watch the debate.

But there really should be pizza.

There really should be a quiet peanut gallery. It takes two seconds to start another thread where people can chat about it at their leisure. If necessary, I’d start it for them, if they’re too lazy.

If a guy requested a debate between himself and another guy, stated that in the OP, I would be the first to leave that thread alone. Guess some people can’t handle personal responsibility.

Another point in favor of government intervention. Of course the government won’t intervene here because it’s not official and stuff. We won’t watch this thread 24 hours a day, and so forth.

Moderating? Huh, not on my watch. I’ll even go out of my way and let people know, hells no, I won’t moderate anything unless forced to. It takes too much of my time to put check marks next to uninvited guest’s posts and delete them. Probably upwards of ten seconds per day.

It’s too much to bear. Woe.

If it’s really so much of a burden, make me a moderator. I’ll show you what it means to do one’s job.

Cut the crap-you’re just barking at the car as it ignores you and drives away, just so you can show others how brave you are. You went ahead with this charade without apparently asking the moderators if it was o.k. to exclude others, and without any hint from Bricker that he cared to participate. Yay! you win!

edited to add: Self-restraint? Isn’t that something you should have practiced when you didn’t get Bricker or the mods to sign on to your idea in the first place?

Bricker whined that we wouldn’t be able to appreciate his wisdom because we’re a far left echo chamber where profound thoughts such as his own go to die.

I opened the door for him to prove his assertion.

Now, we have Czarcasm batting for him, because Bricker can’t fight his own battles, is that what you’re implying?

God, you’re amusing.

I’ve been enoying your posts in this thread, but you’re starting to go overboard. Especially since Czarcasm is most certainly not on Bricker’s side. He’s just an asshole.

I’ll respond to folks who tell me to cut the crap by pointing out their own crap. It’s my right as an American.

I’m not implying anything of the sort. What I say I say in plain English.

Me too, or so I thought.

So I have a scenario where I point out a rich windbag is overreacting and lying to his customers and employees, and will be pushing a policy which weakens his own company and harms real people, and he’s doing it for show, because he can easily resolve the issues without it impacting him or other shareholders personally.

**Bricker **shows up and says that the rich windbag is not a greedy fuck, and that he’s just trying to get what he’s “entitled to”. He further said that because this message board leans a certain way, anyone who posits an opinion is “safe”. This suggests that, if only because of the absence of a fair and impartial forum for others to express their ideas, the truth of conservative ideals cannot flourish, and thus, Bricker is wasting his time imparting his wisdom upon us.

A charge which is naturally responded to with “Okay, here’s a place for you to argue your case one on one. There’s no safe place for ideas to hide. No echo chamber. Your response?”

We shall see. But before **Bricker **even gets a chance to respond, I have **Czarcasm **suggesting well, he might not see it. I corrected for any possibility of that. Before Bricker has a chance to respond one-on-one, I have **Csarcasm **posting turds in a thread he was specifically disinvited to, like a boss. Then, he’s speaking for Bricker when he says that I’m barking at a car that has ignored me and is driving away. How do you know **Bricker **will ignore me at all? And you’re saying that I’m just posting what I have to “appear brave”.

Sounds to me like all you’re posting is wishful thinking, and have nothing of value to contribute. Essentially, you’re a heckler, and a poor one at that. Let me say this in plain English for you Csarcasm: behaving like you have on the internet isn’t a new thing. Color me unimpressed.

And you’re planning to fight ignorance by excluding posters from a discussion so you can have a 1:1 bear pit cage match?

Thus reducing any possibility of the whiny claim that the forum is too left-slanted for an actual exchange of ideas to take place. Which is absurd on the face of it, but let’s remove all doubts.

Yes. Fighting ignorance begins with taking all the cowardly excuses and calling them out, thus negating their power. That’s one conservative excuse out of many down the toilet with the other turds.

I can do this all night but I have actual real-life job-related things to do for the next hour or so. I’ll be back to respond to the hecklers, and yes, anyone who has something of substance to impart, too.

Little late to that party.

Again, a little late to that party.

You’re getting trolled.

Congratulations. You’ve gone from mildly interesting to tiresome faster than any guest on Sprockets.

I personally would like to see Bricker debate on the virtues of economic Darwinism and the pros of slave labor in the US.
