Paper Mario: 1000 Year Door question

You’d think that between my Google skills and the over 100 hours I’ve played the game I’d be able to find the answer. Not the case.

I play this stupid game while I ride my exercycle. I’ve long since cleaned the clock of every foe on every level, and I was basically playing it to “finish” the damn game by achieving maximum heart, flower, and badge points.

It wouldn’t let me get more than 99 badge points. Great, I figured 99 or 100 would be the maximum for flower and heart points too!

But noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! When I hit 100 flower points, it invited me to go up to 105! Same for heart points! My Mario now stands at level 70, and I’m damn sick of the game.

Is there a maximum for Mario’s level? Can I eventually reach the limit for heart and flower points? Or am I doomed to pedal on forever, searching for Amayzee Dayzees to whack to get mucho stars?

Level 99. 200 for Flower Points and Heart Points. You’ve already hit the 99 badge limit.

Thanks!

I don’t think I can stand to play it that long, tho.

Yeah, the bsaic rule of thumb for most Japanese RPGs is thast the level cap is 99.

Or at least my limited experiencves have shown me this.

I know you’re sick of the game, but was it at least enjoyable? I’ve been meaning to play this, but the reviews I’ve read aren’t convincing (me at least). I guess I’m looking for more Super Mario 3 (not as great as 2, imo) or Super Mario 64.

Paper Mario is awesome. Just plain awesome. Go get it.

Oh, sorry, I should mention though that it’s not at all like the other SMB games. It’s a sort of RPG, so it’s more story-oriented with less actual action, although there’s still plenty of that. It seriously is great thogh.

Cool, thanks. I think I will go try it out. Is it anything like Super Mario legend of the 7 stars? I just remembered that. Except for the diagonal grid display, I immensely enjoyed that game, though I’m starting to think it’s the game that time forgot. Let’s add it to the list of games that I have yet to try and play:

Civ IV
Morrowind
Sims
Wind Waker (ugh, yes, I know)
Half-Life 2 (don’t start)
Resident Evil 4

Oh, it was a great game. I’m just not letting go yet. Mainly because it was so easy to play on the exercycle. I’d recommend it.

Gamefaqs is a great resource for gaming info, plus has game specific message boards.

That’s the site I used to answer a lot of my questions about the game, but I could not find the answers to this question there.

I’m reviving this zombie thread just to let you all know that I finally reached level 99, so I can quit!!!

Actually I only played the damn game while exercising, and it did make a pleasant pastime as I peddled, but only sheer bloody-mindedness kept me going at it. I could kill anything with hardly any effort, and unless I was completely careless, nothing could hurt me much at all.

By the end, I achieved 200 flower points (it doesn’t allow for more) and 145 heart points. By level 98, I only got an extra star point if I killed two Amayzy Dayzys at once, otherwise I got only one star point for finishing a battle no matter what I killed during the batle. Thankfully the damn game stopped spitting out star points once I hit level 99. Otherwise I fear I would have been compelled to go for 200 heart points too.

Now I’m back to doing Tetris on the old N64 while I exercise! When I’m sick of that, I’ll do Starfox or Pilotwings for a while.

Impressive! Did you just play the Pit of 100 trials over and over? That’s hardcore! Are there even enough badges to fill up 99 badge points?

Yeah, I did the pit perpetually. And I had more than enough badges to use all the 99 badge points on. I wish I could have gone higher on badge points, I could have made Mario even more powerful.
