Paperback Paradise - Hilarious fake book covers (NSFW)

Paperback Paradise

This is the funniest thing I’ve seen this year. They take obscure paperback books (mostly young adult, sci fi, and fantasy), and make hilarious fake titles for them. I laughed so hard I cried.

Those are all fantastic. For something similar, if not quite a bit more, um, penisy at times, Google for the Liar Town USA tumblr. Another go-to when I need a major laugh.

Persistence is rewarded with this link. Starts off slow, but gets pretty damn good!
*
Pilgrim Tit*, and I’ll Shit Right In Your Goddamn Mouth had me rollin’!

I think I prefer Dang it Sharon, I’m Busy.

I got bored about 10 down. Maybe I just don’t find references to penises and the occasional bad word to be sufficiently outrageous to pass as humor on its own, and the titles didn’t seem to have much to do with the actual images they were attached to so there was nothing beyond that to laugh at.

1/10

Protip: saying something outrageous does not automatically make it funny. And if you’re going to caption an image, make sure the caption actually has relevance to the image.

To see this done right, take a look at That is Priceless. I won’t say it’s uproariously funny, but it does actually make jokes that fit the image.

Hmm. Most of those don’t do anything for me.

Does it say something about me that I was more interested in trying to recall the actual titles?

Gargoyle Girlfriend is really Robert E. Howard’s Almuric. And Planet of the Testicles is really Edmund Hamilton’s Crashing Suns.

I can’t identify the others.

Suck My Dick God is Conquest Of Earth by Manly Banister.

And yeah, that’s Almuric.

I didn’t look for too long but I did recognize those.

That’s about the only one that made me chuckle. Well, I kinda like Fuck You, Mars, for some reason, too. The connection with the image, I suppose.

The Atomic Rockets site has oodles of old pulp covers that just beg for sarcastic titles.

“Manly Banister” ???
That sounds as if the Paperback Paradise people already got to it when it was published.
Maybe they have a Time Machine.

Eat Cosmic Shit was chuckle-worthy, too.

That dude is trying way too hard.

The best fake books covers are still Mighty God King’s.

Not book covers, but I always liked this page:

“Sequel to More Subplots.”
Heh.

Grandpa, Tell Me Again About President Trump is quite funny.

If you like putting new titles on old paperbacks to comment on them, you’ll probably like James Lileks’ comments on pulp SF covers:

The Dick Ripper was Marion Zimmer Bradley’s Star of Danger. I had a copy with that cover a billion years ago.

George R.R. Martin’s Knights Who Say “Fuck”

William Gibson: Internet Culture Is All My Fault.
