Parents - can you guys help me understand mine?

NinjaChick,

As you know, I am a graduate of your future alma mater. I spent every summer in Santa Fe. Getting declared an adult for federal financial aid purposes is fairly pointless, since the irreplaceable money comes from institutional funds and they follow different (and stricter) rules for declarations of independence. I think you can register for the alumni website after (or near the end of) your sophomore year. You may find some local alumni who can help you establish yourself for the summer. Some of them may even provide housing for live-in part-time childcare. There are a few alumni-operated gardening and landscaping companies that always need summer help. My husband’s financial services company also has a branch office fairly near the campus. I don’t know if they need any office help right now, but they like to hire students when they can. You might check with Julia at The Reporter, too. I am active in two alumni communities, as well – so if I can make any inquiries on your behalf, please let me know. There is way too much scroungy but cheapish housing available in walkable neighborhoods in Santa Fe in the summer available for sublet to even consider a first and last plus deposit kind of a situation.
