I always get the feeling that Leslie is too old for Ben. I don’t know why that is. Amy Poehler is younger than me, but I think of her as my senior.
Well, watch a bunch of those SNL sketches where she plays Kaitlin, the hyperactive ten-year old.
Same here. Though in retrospect, that would have been littrally too over the top.
I don’t know why but Tom’s stuff with Jon Ralphio always cracks me up, even when it’s just Tom talking about Jon Ralphio.
Yes, yes it was.
I always loved Poehler’s appearances as Andy Richter’s little sister who had a massive crush on Conan on Late Night with Conan O’Brian.
I’m glad it didn’t grow right back as well.
When I was watching the first few season on DVD (one episode after another) I saw the one where Ron got shot in the back of the head. I figured that by the next episode we wouldn’t hear about it again. I was glad to see it took a few episodes for his hair to grow back in correctly.
I’m guessing the mustache will be the same thing. Assuming it’s real, it’ll probably be a while before it’s back.
I think it’s “Jean-Ralphio,” which is a slightly douchier name.
Googling turned up all sorts of ways to spell it, so I just went with one, but you’re probably correct!
I can handle it. I’m Puerto Rican!
April is rising to the too for me. Aubrey Plaza is a surprising actor. Did anyone see that clip of her doing an impression of Sarah Silverman?
Tom, Jean-Ralphio, April, and Chris. An amazing tier two cast.
I saw that a long time ago but didn’t like it. But it’s not her fault. I looooove Sarah Silverman. I haaate her standup, hate hate hate it. The Sarah Silverman Program on the other hand I could watch all day long. So naturally I wouldn’t get a big rise out of someone impersonating her standup routine.
For those wanting to talk more like Tom, I highly recommend Tom Haverfoods
An impersonation is not supposed to have the same meaning, relevance, or impact as the original. I don’t like George Bush but I can appreciate a dead on impersonation of him
I suppose I may have just not liked the act either then. Her character works in that setting, but the little bit of it I’ve seen outside of Parks and Rec seems to be basically the same dry monotone thing and that doesn’t work for me…but I really do like her in Parks and Rec.
I’ve never noticed her in anything else, but she fits right into Parks and Rec. She’s another one of those real characters. There are young women where I work who have that same basic defensive i-couldn’t-care-less attitude, but have something more to them underneath. That’s how i see most of the other characters also. They go over the top, but represent something real in an unreal situation. My wife could be Leslie, and she actually used to work for local government.
My wife and I feel the same way. I believe Poehler is older than the actor who plays Ben anyway so it’s NOT crazy to think that.
Not by much, she’s only two years older than he is. But he looks kinda young for his age and she doesn’t.
