The Possum. This show has really kicked into gear and was as funny as any of the Thursday night comedies last night. Nice nod to Caddyshack, but I like how they’re being generous to the ensemble, giving everyone something to do (well, except Anne, who usually gets plenty of face time). Also, balancing 3 story threads isn’t easy, but they managed to execute and intertwine them effectively without spreading things too thin. And I never thought I would say this, but Andy may be turning into my favorite character.
First season was simply awful. This season is actually enjoyable as the characters have become real people. Especially Ron and Leslie.
“Andy has self-diagnosed himself with something he’s calling ‘shoeshine head’. It’s like a thunderstorm in your head, and can only be cured by cheeseburgers, coffee or taking a nap in the hall.”
I think this whole season has been better, over all, than The Office. They really have improved the writing and fleshed out the characters a lot. By far, the smartest thing they did was adjust Amy Poeher’s character from being a Michael Scott buffoon into a quirky and neurotic, but essentally grounded, believable and intelligent individual. They’ve gone from making her a clown, into basically making her the straight man, with the characters around her beiing the loony ones.
Agreed on Andy becoming an increasingly endearing character, by the way. I think they’ve adjusted him as well. He started ooff as kind off boorish and insensitive, but he’s now been massaged into a fundamentally good-hearted doofus.
My favorite character is Ron, though. He’s the most like me.
The look on his face after he cut the code book in half was priceless.
“Come on. I’ll build you a canoe.”
Agree with all the above. I enjoy this show far more than Office or 30 Rock.
Agree completely about Andy. I felt bad about him losing Ann, hope he gets together with April pretty soon, they are about the same maturity level. I like April’s phone skills.
I like the actress who plays April. Doesn’t seem like there are any other characters like her on TV, yet people like that exist in real life. I think she does a bang-up job, and her scene in the bed with Leslie was very funny because it seemed very un-April.
