Partners - Kelsey Grammer/Martin Lawrence comedy

Just fucking awful, that’s all. I made it through the first scene and turned it off. Fake laugh track, mugging for the camera, unfunny dialog. And these two have the balls to compare themselves to The Odd Couple. I predict cancellation before the season ends.

I’m sorry, but I have to question your sense of taste.
You sat through though the whole first scene before turning it off?

My hand kept twitching toward the remote; I had to physically restrain myself.

I don’t know about Lawrence, but Grammer was doing “Fraiser on Valium”.

Lawrence seemed to be trying to make up for lame material by making funny faces. The laugh track was egregiously 1960s, with even the mildest of dialog getting Big Laffs. Total shite, IMO.

Look at the bright side-If we’re the only ones that sat through the intro, it’s a good chance it ain’t got a good chance.

I actually sat through both episodes. I have seen premieres go badly but then the second episode be better. This was not one of those times. Awful. And I was really looking forward to it, so disappointment. The grandma’s pork chop line was exceptionally memorable, and not in a good way.

Never heard of it, but the subject line of this thread alone made me cringe.

What is it about imagining a show where Dr. Niles Crane is told “You so crazy” that makes one reticent to watch? Everything.

I saw a commercial for this where Kelsey Grammar’s character talks about how “his best friend growing up was black,” and it turns out he’s talking about his dog. So, is part of the show’s concept that Grammar’s character is, like, KKK-level racist?

Martin Lawrence pretty much turns everything he’s in to shit.

Of course, I’m probably bitter because he destroyed What’s the Worst That Could Happen?, my favorite Donald Westlake book, and have refused to watch anything with him in it since.

Lucky for me I happened to read Flavorwire’s article about it, and was able to avoid it in time.
