Passionfruit

In this thread about figs, I talked about how excited I was to rediscover figs on a vacation in Paris a couple years ago. I’ve now located a source of figs much closer to home.

The thread reminded me of an even bigger obsession I got while on vacations in Peru and Costa Rica the two years before that: passionfruit. They had bright orange passionfruits that were very sweet and delicious. It was fun cracking open the skin, sucking out the slimy insides, and crunching on the seeds. They’re almost impossible to find around here. I did see them at the grocery store once, but it was very sour, somewhat dessicated, and had a dark purple skin. Are the sweet orange ones ever available around here? The closest thing I have is the passionfruit Chobani yogurt.

Passion fruit is really hard to find around here. I believe your best bet is some of the ethnic grocery stores, like on Devon, and even then they only have them for a short time.
