Pastor to the AR 15 Protester.. Sickening

I suppose it’s silly to ask, but, Barney Franks arrested for sex with teenagers? Is there any grain of truth in this?

Also, anyone got a cite for this preacher’s tasing thing?

Hm. Re-reading what I just wrote shows me who I find more credible…

No. He had an affair with a prostitute, and was reprimanded by the House. The prostitute was of age, and Frank was never arrested.

From The Boston Globe.

I guess it’s true what they say. When you have Obama, everything looks like a snail.

As awful as this was, it still took me twenty minutes to come up with. I couldn’t think of anything with “glamour,” and “psalmer” isn’t a real word.

I haven’t read the rest of the thread yet, but gawddammit that would be a great sig…I bet those mod booted Jacks, er, jack booted Mods won’t let me use it, though…:frowning:

Someone oughta slug you for that. :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t get it.

No, we won’t-otherwise I’d be using it.

I see this an an interesting political problem. Technically, it appears to me that this preacher is clearly a partisan advocate. Therefore, his church may not qualify for tax-exempt status under existing law. However, if Obama encourages, or possibly even just allows the Justice Department and/or IRS to investigate and attempt to remove said tax exempt status, the GoP has a public relations bonanza…Obama is anti-God!

Of course, if he goes after this guy and also goes after James Wright, and wins both cases, he can demonstrate neutral application of the law to neutralize the GoP counter-spin…

“Mod wants to use my sig” is a pretty lame sig. Thanks for nothin’.

It’s a variation on the saying:

If all that you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

It’s even better now that I know this, 'cause I say “Obama” like “Obamma”!

“Obamma” “Hamma”
“Snail” “Nail”

[Spock] Ah. [/Spock]

You know, if you imagine this in Samuel L. Jackson’s voice, it sound awesome.

You may be confusing Barney Frank with the Massachusetts Democrat who was caught up in the Congressional Page scandal of the early 80s: Gerry Studds. In 1983 Studds admitted to having had an affair with a 17 yo page in 1973, and was censured for it. There was no arrest, as the relationship, while improper by most standards, did not get into statutory rape territory.

Clergy is allowed to be partisan and preach for or against certain policies, they just can’t endorse specific candidates. Obama even had a town hall with clergy members in order to get them to advocate for health care reform. I don’t see any legal problem with what this preacher said (disgusting as it may be), nor with anything Wright said.

Besides, everybody knows Jeremiah was a bullfrog and, therefore, cannot simply be melted.

Thanks for this information; I thought this was the way the law worked.

Thanks for the information.

I wasn’t confusing this, though. I was asking because of the section of the preacher’s statements that said Frank was arrested. I’m thinking he was the one is “confused” about the two stories.

I would send your cite to the preacherman, if I thought there was a snowcone’s chance in Hell that it would do any good.

I heard it in Karl Malden’s voice, and thought how much the man could benefit from a quiet afternoon outdoors with Haley Mills.

I read today that this nutter is now using his house of worship to wish his God would give Barack Obama brain cancer, Kennedy-style.

Now here’s something I don’t understand: when decent human beings criticized the scum Bush for invading countries on false pretenses and having their citizens imprisoned and tortured, the decent human beings were shouted down and marginalized as freedom-hating terrorists and such by these mad Republicans. Now these same mad Republicans are wishing death on Obama not because of things he actually did and deserves the blame for (the way Bush deserves the blame for all the dead and maimed and widowed and orphaned and ruined and tortured in Iraq), but because Obama’s victory made Glenn Beck cry?

Have I got the American political dynamic down pat?
