All except for the part where you hate America. Let’s get with the program, huh?
It’s implied by my hatred of freedom.
I predict this will ultimately lead to a Highlander-style battle to the death with Fred Phelps.
Now, Universe, I know I haven’t been a very good pantheist, but if you could give me this as a sign…
Aw, you missed a chance to quote a tweet from Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-IA (still spreading the Death Panel lie, incidentally):
Slugs too. I’m pretty sure it’s just dehydration. You can dry fish out by covering it with salt, too.
No. Holy ground. To them, anyway.
More details appear. Seems the gun toting dude at an Obama rally agreed with the pastor.
Hmm. Can’t help but think that’s one of those questions that you probably shouldn’t be coy about answering in the negative, even if you keep your fingers crossed at the time.
False equivalence between socialism, communism, & abortion. Scary.
You know, if we ever do start seizing everyone’s guns, we really ought to thank Chris Broughton.
How about we just seize the high-powered rifles?
As rifles go, an AR 15 isn’t very high powered.
And the guy that would rather shoot it out than give it up, he’s only about medium crazy?
But it’s scary looking!
d&r
So long as its more scary than the guy holding it, I’m cool. Just tip my hat politely and make myself elsewhere.
Just on the off chance that this was not a whoosh (I sure hope it was), “high-powered” is a giant category of rifles which includes most common hunting cartridges for large game. (When was the last time anyone was murdered with a .458 Win Mag or a .338 Lapua?) Sorry, I realize maybe two people here will even know what the hell I’m talking about. Anyway, rifles in general account for a very small proportion of all crimes committed with firearms, and rifles like AR-15s (which are NOT “high-powered” in any way; in fact, many veterans who served with the Garand or the M14 and then had to adopt the M16 bitched about the .223 round being too weak, and they continue to do so) are an even smaller percentage.
The people who oppose “assault weapons” are pretty much to a man (or woman - actually the anti-gun movement is spearheaded by women) people who know absolutely NOTHING about rifles.
I think what you mean to say is that they know nothing of the minutia about rifles with which you are obsessed.
Minutia? It’s all very well and good to call them “minutia,” but there are people actively trying to legislate on the basis of tremendous misunderstanding regarding these small and insignificant details. Don’t try to make it sound like we’re somehow being irrational or “obsessive” when we make a big deal about these distinctions that the less knowledgeable are actively trying to use against us.
There’s nothing wrong with not knowing the difference between an AR-15 and an M-16, or even the difference between an Ruger 10/22 and 20mm anti-tank rifle. The problem arises when you try to pass laws about who’s allowed to own what based on these trifling (and, from the perspective of violent crime, utterly irrelevant) details about which you know absolutely nothing.
Thereby proving my point far better than I ever could - you don’t know what on earth you’re talking about. If you think the difference between a full-power cartridge and an intermediate cartridge is “minutia,” then you truly know nothing about rifles.
