I hope he didn’t do it but mostly I wish everyone could just withhold judgment until something is proven. Too bad “innocent until proven guilty” is just a bunch of words these days.
Ya don’t say? I thought it was everyone’s norm to defend Sidney Crosby in an unrelated thread about rape.
…which is why Patrick Kane now sits in a Chicago prison, there to remain until he dies. Right?
Remember the bullshit that women’s groups used to spread about Super Bowl Sunday being the top day for domestic violence because testosterone fueled men + football = beat the women? And it was proven be a complete lie? I feel the same way about 1/4 women will be raped myth. Unless women’s groups stretch the definition of ‘rape’ to include hearing a bad pick up line in a bar, I call bullshit on that figure.
Not really, no. I don’t remember it at all. Could you cite it? It is possible you may be mis-remembering a detail or nuance.
Sure,
Going to snopes, when it’s been addressed in the Straight Dope column, makes Cecil weep.
When has Crosby been accused of rape? Mostly I’d have a harder time believing it due to his reputation. Same for someone like, as noted, Stamkos. (If you want someone from the Blackhawks, perhaps Duncan Keith?) There have been players for the Pens I might be less inclined to give the benefit of the doubt. Like I’ve stated, Kane has a reputation for violence in the past. And whether he did it or not:
a.) The first concern should NOT be, “I hope this doesn’t affect the season!”
b.) I’ll bet she’s just some slutty golddigger.
That’s NOT merely “innocent until proven guilty.” :dubious: If Kane gets the benefit of the doubt, why not the victim as well?
Fine. Now go find a source about your claims that the rape statistics are false. (And note: it did not say 1 in 4 will be raped – it said sexual assault. It also included male victims.) I’m not saying that there haven’t been lies spread by feminists in the past. I’m asking YOU to prove this particular one, not just stating your own personal feelings. Otherwise, I’m going to give your comments the respect they deserve: none.
And again, “innocent until proven guilty” is a legal concept. It has nothing to do with speculation.
It’s not the content on the interview - it is the context.
SkyBar’s owner, Mark Croce, told The Buffalo News on Saturday night that he has no way of knowing what happened between the woman and Kane at Kane’s home. He said he only knows Kane casually and has never been to his home.
OK - first mention of Mark Croce. He is saying - “I don’t know anything about the alleged incident”.
Next paragraph:
But

…ummm…
…Croce told The News that he and several of his employees noticed a young woman “hanging all over” Kane at SkyBar for at least two hours that night, putting her hands on his arms and “being very forward, very flirtatious with him.” He said he does not know the woman and does not know her name.
“Young, Rich and Local Famous Person Seen Spending Time With The Opposite Sex At Local Club. Everyone Had A Good Time And Went Home Happy. The End.”
Please search the French newspapers for me for that headline/byline, because it sure hasn’t appeared anywhere I’ve ever seen. Ever.
[ul]I have no idea if Kane is guilty or innocent.
I have no idea if the alleged victim is telling the truth or has some ulterior motive.
I have no stake in the outcome.
People are going to speculate.

But reporting like this turns people like dalej42 into salivating assholes immediately crying “Bullshit!” “Whore!” “Liar!”. And that benefits no one.
I don’t blame dalej42 per se for having such a small mind that he can’t think for himself because of terrible reporting. But biased reporting is going to make the truth in this case, and subsequent ones, harder to find because people get so polarized by what they hear.
Besides, the girl is allowed to change her mind. Perhaps they went back to his house, and she got cold feet. Is she not allowed to do that?
Again, you cite one thing which may or may not be true (I can’t be bothered to follow your link because it’s irrelevant), which is anecdotal. “One story I heard turned out to be bullshit, therefore all rape and domestic violence accusations and statistics must also be bullshit.” You could be 100% right for all we know* but you can’t come up with a single real thing to back up your opinion.
*Ha! I slay me. That shit was funny.
missed the edit window, sorry.
It’s already started. Not sure how I feel about this, since EA may not be looking out for womankind so much as covering their own corporate asses. http://www.si.com/nhl/2015/08/12/patrick-kane-removed-ea-nhl-16-cover-rape-allegations
Probably a wise corporate move. By the time all the legalities shake out, it will be time for release of #17. As this keeps going on, any potential jury pool is getting more tainted.
I would hate to be Blackhawk management right now.
But I’d rather do that than be dalej42.
It’s 100% covering their asses. Which, perversely, gives dalej42 some cred.
…the original cover picture looked awkward anyways…
I liked the first redesign better.
oh, I know. But I didn’t want to be challenged by you know who to prove it, so soon after asking the same of him, and I certainly didn’t want to give him any cred.
This thing is going to drag, and Kaner’s not going to be the optimal spokesperson, whether guilty, not guilty, or innocent.
Yeah - you are as bad as dalej42 if you are seriously posting that.
Oh lighten up, I just thought it was funny.
Perhaps then they should’ve gone with Keith, since he was the MVP time?
Lighten up? Someone’s future is on the line here. People with a lot more at risk than you I imagine.
It’s called a joke, son.
