Patrick Swayze is dying

According to reports Patrick Swayze has pancreatic cancer and only has 5 weeks to live. I hope this doesn’t make me a bad person but the first thought that came to mind was the episode of MASH* that he appeared on where he was a soldier diagnosed with leukemia.

I hope that his remaining time is peaceful and as painfree as possible.

That’s pretty sad – but if he does pass on, at least he’ll be back in a less corporeal form.

Dammit. IIRC, pancreatic cancer is a bitch.

I had a huge crush on him ever since he played Orry Main in North and South. If they can’t cure him, I hope they can dope him to the gills so he won’t be in any pain.

:frowning:

Nurse: If you’ll wait over there, I’ll let you know when the doctor is ready.

PS: Nobody puts Swayze in a corner!!!

That seems like a weird style of reporting to me…but I’m very sorry anyway.

Seeing as the main cite of that article is the National Enquirer, I’m not overly upset (yet).

ivylass, AIUI, the problem with pancreatic cancer isn’t so much that it’s inherently worse than other cancers - the problem is that for a number of reasons it’s a silent cancer, without any large scale symptoms. So it remains undiagnosed and untreated until it has metastasized.

Metastasized cancers are a particularly ugly way to go, no matter where they started.

My best wishes and hopes for serenity for him and his family at this time.

Sorry to hear. He always seemed like a pleasant guy.

And now, at this point in my professional career, I know that Barney pushed me to be the best I could be…to reach heights I never knew I could reach. Barney made me a better person.

If they’re talking about Nostrodomus or Burt Reynolds actually being a robot I agree with you, but when it comes to celebrity gossip they seem to be much better about the whole factual thing than they used to be.

Well, you’re not as bad a person as me, who cannot stop thinking of ‘Ghost’ jokes now .

Ditto.

cmyk, that’s a fitting response.

I also thought of his SNL bit where he did the Chippendales audition with Farley. Geez, I’m lame.

Perhaps, but all reports seem to lead back to them so far.

Given the topic, did that line strike anyone else as weird?

He’s going to tell Jerry Orbach that nobody puts Baby in a corner?

line for that bus, over here, then?

Pain don’t hurt.

Actually, that’s kind of creepy, considering if this turns out to be authentic, both in that skit will be dead. Maybe even a third… was Phil Hartman in that skit?

I tried googling information about this, and turned up some reports that Swayze is already dead of a heart attack. Apparently CNN is reporting this, though it’s not online yet. Can anyone confirm this?

“Patrick Swayze gives up the ghost”
doesn’t sound funny, somehow. :frowning:
