At the risk of stating the obvious…
[Moderating]
Everyone has different tastes in music, so let’s not let that overwhelm the discussion here. If any of you disagree about what songs should be in this thread, that calls for at most one post to note the disagreement. Or you can just stay out of the thread entirely, if it’s not going in a direction that interests you. Let’s not have endless sniping about particular songs.
thank you for posting Ray Charles, that was awesome
Serious suggestion if it’s not too late yet.
Elton John’s Philadelphia Freedom.
Going with the country music theme and the American melting pot (or maybe salad bowl; I don’t want to be specific here. I mean lots of people from various backgrounds coming together in America), you gotta go with: “American Saturday Night” by Brad Paisley. I suspect the city rats will love it, too.
Welp, we welcomed him in with Coming to America, and didn’t get much farther. We’re having cake later and I’ll play some more. We also had lots of fun listening to the playlist while decorating his office, which took nearly 2 hours. (When I said over-the-top, I meant it!!)
Thank you all so much for the AWESOME suggestions!!! You introduced me to lots of great new music, and reminded me of things that I had forgotten about.
I realize the OP said the party is over but, if you are going to do the national anthem, Madison Rising’s version is da bomb.
It really needed Hugh Laurie’s Song For America.
What about The King?
