"Pattern Recognition" by Gibson

So, I’m nearly done reading it (no spoilers, please), and really, really like it. But, is it sci-fi?

I’m about halfway through it myself, and I’d have to vote no.

But that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

I have just started it. The tone seems a little different.
I miss Rydel though.

I read it about three months ago, when I got an advance galley to review for a magazine.

No, I wouldn’t call it SF. Everything in it is very much of today. Nothing happens in it that couldn’t conceivably happen right now.

Sure, it’s a little weird, but a lot of people have weirder realities than that. In New York, anyway.
