Kind of weird. Imagine strolling down to do some fishing and running into Sir Paul. No one would ever believe you!

When he gets to the bottom, he goes back to the top of the bridge.
My sister (in her mid sixties) drove a hundred miles to see the show. Texted me this a.m. that it was the best concert she’d ever attended, that the band came on without fanfare, that it ran 2-1/2 hours with no breaks, and that Paul sang every song with the band or by himself.
I probably would not have shared her enthusiasm, because listening to him struggle w high notes is painful for me. And looking at a Youtube of him performing Something on a ukulele as a George tribute (with photos showing on the video screen) seems too preFab.

If you think about it, hanging around under a bridge and surprising people is literally trolling.
Springsteen did 4 hours with no intermission when I saw him in 2016. I don’t know how guys that age have that kind of stamina.
I watched a Jerry Seinfeld videoed stand-up performance maybe 5 years ago — he opened by saying (approx): “If you know anything about my life, then you know that I could be doing any thing I want, almost any place on earth. So, if I say there’s no place I’d rather be than performing for you here tonight, you can trust me on that.”
I don’t know why Paul is doing 2-1/2 hr shows in Tulsa at age 83, but presumably that’s what he truly wants to do.
I wonder if they just go on auto-pilot to an extent; everything is muscle memory, and they’ve done it so often that they are just used to it physically.
I heard the same thing about his tour kickoff in Santa Barbara here, (announced just 2 days beforehand , tickets were difficult to get and expensive) He did a similar setlist, and pretty much powered through the whole thing.
How many semi loads of equipment would be in a Tulsa show? Shows now days are a far cry from standing on a platform in a baseball stadium with a couple of Vox amps behind you.
The Santa Barbara show was “only” 1.5 hours and was announced over a week beforehand*. Tickets were only available to people who lived in the Santa Barbara area. It was by far the smallest venue on the tour. I’ve been to literally thousands of live music performances and that was one of the very best.
*I knew about it a few weeks before it was announced because I’m pretty well connected and I figured it out when someone let a clue slip.
Bob Dylan got the cops called on him when he was wandering around a neighborhood in New Jersey.
My daughter was a stage hand, (a hired roadie) who was assigned to his concert at the Dome a few years ago. They unloaded countless tractor trailers just setting up the floor (big groups bring their own floors). It was summer, temperature in the low 100’s inside. She was trained in pyrotechnics and in a place like the Dome it was strictly forbidden! But what Sir Paul wanted, Sir Paul got, and there were pyrotechnics at the end of the show. (There were orders issued to standby to evacuate, but mercifully nothing went wrong.). She said Sir Paul came backstage and shook each and everyone’s hand - she texted me this at 3 a.m., beyond excited! She said the concert was just awesome! It took many hours to tear down and put everything back on the trucks, but she made a lot of money overtime.
Glad you got to go…I think it “felt” like 2 days notice…I only heard on local radio. I’m very unconnected. What a place to see him play, not a bad seat anywhere, really. Even out in the street sounds good sometimes! I would have loved to hear all the songs, but Sargeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band must have been fun
Under a bridge in Tulsa isn’t the only odd place in Oklahoma that Paul has been seen. There’s also this spot on old Rt 66 outside of Arcadia where he stopped to ask for directions.
County road sign marks spot where Paul McCartney asked for directions
There were a lot of people enjoying it outside in the small parking lot adjacent to the venue.
Edit: I completely forgot that you also live here!
I used to date a woman who was a member of the original beatles fan club. She gets all kind of perk, one of which was great tickets. I saw Sir Paul in Dallas - 5th row seats. It was kind of unreal.
Golf clap.
This thread reminds me of the story told by one of the early MTV VJs about Sir Paul (but not at the time) showing up for an interview in the early 80s in a cab by himself. He was just dropped off in front of the building. He was apparently very charming and friendly to everyone.
When Ringo Starr was interviewed around the same time, he showed up with a couple big cars and several security and staff personnel. The underlings at MTV were told by his staff not to look at him or ask for pictures/autographs.
