Paul McCartney on PBS Great Performances

I only caught bits of this last night, but it was pretty cool. Paul in a “Storytellers” format at Abbey Road’s Studio 2. (The “Deluxe” edition of Chaos and Creation in the Back Yard had a bonus DVD, was this performance on it?)

I really liked his demo on how to use a 4-track, using wine glasses and a harmonium to do “Band on the Run”. His version of “Heartbreak Hotel”, playing the stand-up bass used in the original recording was a treat, as well.

I enjoyed it, too. His voice was a little rough but what the hell, he’s 63. I thought his rasp added texture to “20 Flight Rock.”

What I liked best was the Bach piece and watching him goof around with the Mellotron.

I’ve been a fan all my life and I wanted to see MORE! Will this be out on DVD?
