Pay Pal won't accept my card?

Is this because of the new “chip & pin” on credit cards that became law in the UK on 1st Jan?

Have you a card without a security code on the back? Paypal won’t accept them: this is the case with Solo and Electron cards, but Paypal still shows their logos :dubious:

I am using the same visa card that I was using all last year. Today was the first time I’ve used it on Ebay this year, which is what made me wonder if it had something to do with this “chip & pin” thingy.

This is the message I got when my card was refused:

Transaction Cancelled
This payment cannot be completed because your credit card has been refused by your credit card issuer. For details on why your card was refused, please contact your credit card issuer’s Customer Service department. You may want to try using a different credit card or choose eCheque instead. To do this, please click the More Payment Options link.

As there is no outcry on the net about UK buyers not being able to use their cards on Ebay purchases, I guess the problem is elsewhere. I’m going to have to have a word with my bank.

Probably something as simple as the bank flagging all new eBay CC users. If they’ve had a few bad experiences with fraud, they might require a phone call for authorization.
