Payback is a bitch. Old European church vandalised. Cardinal thinks it’s swell

Well, rest assured in the knowledge that you are contributing to the balance, by showing absolutely no respect and adjustment. Or intelligence, for that matter.

It takes an even greater fool to believe that Europe suffers under a “real and present danger” of becoming Islamicized.

. . . right.

So you can’t justify your claim that this is actual desecration, so you offer up a tortured comparison to actual desecration.

I’ve never heard about Palestinians using Bibles as toilet paper. On the other hand, there’s plenty of reports of U.S. soldiers in Guantánamo urinating on copies of the Qur’an.

I guess no one group has a monopoly on that kind of thing, do they?

More hypotheticals. You’re certain that Muslims would never allow anyone else to use their holy spaces, so non-Muslims shouldn’t either? I don’t know if you’re Christian, but under the teachings espoused by mainstream Christian denominations - including the Roman Catholic Church - such reciprocality doesn’t really have a place, does it? The Christian approach is generally to extend love and help even when it wouldn’t be returned. You know about turning the other cheek? Think about that: the commandment to Christians is to behave non-violently even in the face of violence! That’s not very reciprocal at all, is it?

I think you’re applying a very worldly set of values to what is at heart a religious issue. While your rule of reciprocation might make sense from your own worldly perspective, it is not by any stretch of the imagination Christian. Perhaps that explains why the Catholic Church is willing to offer something that you don’t feel they should offer.

Meanwhile, stop arguing with hypotheticals and meaningless comparisons. They just make the glaring patheticness of your claim that this is “desecration” - which it’s not, by any stretch - all the sharper.

If you wish to continue arguing that this constitutes desecration, you need to provide support for your argument. Look through your Bible; I challenge you to find something that supports your claims.

Well, I’ve read both sides of the argument and it would appear that this is just another of Rune’s repeated attempts to convince us that the Islamic religion, as a whole, is at war with Christianity. Sir, the evidence you have provided in support of this argument in this thread is weak to the point of non-existence. Better luck next time.

As for LonesomePolecat, I can’t recall ever seeing a post from this guy that wasn’t seething with bitterness and hostility. I’ve got to ask: does it ever occur to you that various things seem to piss you off to a much greater degree than most people? Are you as full of anger in real life as you present yourself here? Don’t you find it a bit fatiguing to constantly be enraged at a bunch of strangers on a message board, much less at all the many other things that seem to have you in a perpetual state of rage?

It’s the same God just in a different language, and I’ll tell you what else gets really old after a while:

Your constant racist and Islamaphobic bitching about the “dark hordes” that are simply going to destroy your country.

One line fools packing petty insults also get old pretty fast, or to say it so you’ll understand: your mother is a platypus.

Covering Christian images for a Muslim or Jewish is hardly “not respecting them.”

Hooding the Virgin Mary??? For Pete’s sake, what planet are you on??? Do you realize that Islam forbids representational art? Do you not think that Catholics borrowing a mosque would bring in statues of Jesus and/or Mary if they had them available? Would you consider that respectful of Islamic beliefs?

As far as I can tell, these people have behaved exactly as Christians in their place would have done, there is no evidence (and you presumably gave us the best you had) that they have shown any disrepect or vandalism, and you and Lonesome Polecat have your heads firmly up your asses! You are looking for things to despise, and hey, congratulations - you have found what seems to qualify in your silly little minds, and nothing (certainly not facts) is going to convince you otherwise.

If I go into a church that is being used as a church, I do act as is expected of that place, at least as much as that doesn’t involve me doing or saying anything that goes against my own religious beliefs. I won’t ask that the statues be covered up, but I won’t bow to them (or whatever a worshiper at that church does that involves them).

Worshipping somewhere and visiting somewhere are two entirely different things, though. I would feel very strange saying Jewish prayers in a Jewish service in a church with crosses around. I could see how some Protestants might feel similarly uncomfortable worshipping in a church full of statues of saints, side altars, and the like, or how a Muslim might feel uncomfortable worshipping in a church with statues. I think that’s a reasonable accommodation to make, as long as it’s temporary.

If Christians used our synagogue as a temporary church, I would expect them to bring in crosses, a communion table or altar, their Christian bibles and prayer books, and whatever else they might need for their worship service. I’d be fine with it if they put their cross or altar in front of our ark, or covered our ark, while they worshipped, as long as it was temporary and they had the permission of the people in charge of the synagogue.

Three quick me-too’s in a row. I’ll just address the last:

“Islamaphobic”, “racist”, “dark hordes”. whoa. Any higher? Can we have a “bigot” anyone, a “fascist”, or a “Nazi”? What do you think it is: buzzword bingo for liberals? You quote “dark hordes” implying it was a direct quote from me. Lets have a cite anywhere where I have written anything like that. Or anything at all racist for that matter. You’re an idiot. threemae is an idiot. There I said it. I’m a threemaephobic.

I wonder what Lonesome Polecat and Rune would say if I told them that there is an old church just three doors down and across the street from me…that is now used as a daycare center in the basement and a beauty parlor upstairs! In fact, I can look out my window right now and see it!

The beauty parlor is a desecration! I have it on good authority that they used a statue of the Blessed Virgin as a wig stand! Also, it’s symbolic of the burning desire of hairstylists to take over the civilized world and make us all look like the guys on Queer Eye! Our children are not safe!

Well, you do call them heathens, which, as I said already, in this day and age is pretty condescending, insulting, and disrespectful.

Not explicitly racist, just superior and eliteist.

I used to sometimes drive past a church that had been turned into a travel agency. I always wondered if I could stop in a buy a ticket to Heaven, and if so, can I get it round trip, or is it strictly one way?

Clearly, Christiandom is at war with beauticians, and Europe is in danger of becoming infantilized even as we speak. Just look: they’ve already got Rune!

Such kind language. I am sure you are the type who makes a very big deal when on Christians use the same kind of langauge about Christians.

But for your information, Allah is simply God in Arabic and the Christians use it. It seems very weird and only sort of blind fearful prejudice to be upset about the name God written in a script you don’t know.

The use of this word heathen and your other language, well it does have the odour of someone badly disguising racism, but I do not know you.

I use the word to express the contempt I feel for the likes of Excalibre and you. dhimmi.

They are NOT “okay with this.” The churches were occupied illegally and without permission, and the Church doesn’t like it at all:

Face reality, dhimmis.

Would you dhimmis be quite so complacent if Christians were illegally occupying mosques to protest illegal immigration?

Well, if it’s true they don’t have permission, then I agree they should leave.

But I’m curious, do you really think calling me “dhimmi” insults me?

Would the word “bitch” insult you? Because it’s pretty much the same thing.

Not according to my dictionary. But in any case, no, you calling me bitch would not insult me in the least.
