Paying the annual SDMB member fee

It could very well have been. Feels like not that long ago to me, but again, time flies. Maybe the powers that be could extend one final offer, seeing as some may have missed that the first time.

Thanks, OP! You’ve shamed me into signing up. I realize I get nothing for it I wasn’t getting anyway, but the same is true of most restaurant tips. The price is cheap: Considering how much time I [del]waste in exasperation[/del] enjoy at SDMB, it’s probably just 2 or 3 pennies per hour. :smack:

My excuse for waiting this long is fear of being BANNED. (Will the unused portion of the subscription be returned when I’m Banned?) But it’s been several weeks since my last Warning, so maybe I can be a Member for a while.

OFFER EXPIRES MAY 27! Lapsed Charter Members can regain their title
2010

Yes, time does fly. Feels like yesterday.

Come on, offer it again. Just one more time.

My charter membership lapsed so now it feels like I’m paying more for less since it can’t be restored. So I make due with the free version and AdBlock.

Interesting thread. I wasn’t posting at that time and I wonder whether I would have taken up on the offer if I had been. Requiring a two-year payment at the regular rate in exchange for charter status is a pretty clever way of getting guests to pony up a lot more than they otherwise would have (that’s four years worth of discounted payments).

I wonder how many lapsed charterfolks actually took the bait. It must not have been very many, or else one imagines they would have repeated it from time to time.

Though even if it wasn’t very many, some has to be better than none, right? It’s basically free money for the Reader. Keeping it as a standing offer would obviously be a bit much in terms of manpower, but maybe every couple of years? Or whenever a member with over 10,000 posts is banned? Or when a Pope dies?
