So I have a Paypal account, all nice and verified. I have an Ebay account that’s linked up to the Paypal account. I had a transaction go through and everything worked out ok.
Then I switched my primary e-mail address in Paypal. My Ebay account still links up to that Paypal but I forgot to switch it on Ebay to the new e-mail address.
So I’m not sure how that works. If someone won an auction and paid through Paypal where does it go? It’s still linked to my account but they’re technically paying to an e-mail address that doesn’t go anywhere. Does it go through? Does it bounce back? Does it get lost in the nethervoid?
I’ve since corrected the problem (if there even was one) but I’m concerned about what’s going on with the other person’s money.
Not sure I understand the question. If you have a right paypal and a wrong ebay email address the payment will still be sent through to paypal, but ebay to from buyer-seller emails will not get to you via your old email client. They would still be available on ebay in the “messages” section. You can check there to see if you missed any messages.
That’s what I was hoping. Sorry if I wasn’t explaining it all properly. Basically it was like this:
I set up paypal with E-mail #1.
I set up Ebay to link with Paypal through E-mail #1.
Later on, I switched my primary Paypal e-mail to Email #2. I took off E-mail #1 altogether.
I did NOT switch that e-mail on Ebay. The link to my account still worked but it was registering as if it was through E-mail #1.
So if someone won an auction and wished to pay me…I’m hoping it still goes through.
I did misunderstand your question please disregard my response. If someone is sending a paypal payment via the wrong email address I’m not sure what will happen, but it will probably bounce.
