PBS program on Alzheimer's this past week

Or at least that’s when it aired in my area.

Anyway, in one part of the show, they showed a montage of notable people who had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, one of them being ballet kingpin George Balanchine.

Balanchine actually had CJD. Don’t know how that one made it past the editors. So far as I know, he was the first (and only) notable person to have been diagnosed with CJD, as it is still pretty rare.

I love it when someone named Earl Snake-Hips Tucker from South Carolina breaks the stereotype to correct PBS on a matter concerning Ballenchine. You are wonderful!

What is CJD?

Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease. Basically, the human manifestation of “mad cow disease.”
