PCMCIA sound card w/RCA jacks?

Sorry if this is IMHO.

Does anybody manufacture a reasonably priced PCMCIA (I or II) sound card with RCA jacks? I’ve only been able to dig up pro audio models that cost upwards of five hundred bucks.

I’m recording a bunch of my LPs to burn for my CD/MP3 player, and the mini mic input on my laptop just isn’t cutting it.

I’d like to spend under a Benjamin, if possible.

As a side note the input side of most of these devices have 1/8 inch stereo female input jacks. To get record player output to this input you will need to come of out your amplifier’s line level aux or tape out jacks and get a 6 foot male 1/8 stereo to two male RCA jacks (Radio Shack). The 1/8 plug goes to the PCMCIA card and the male jacks to the line level out.

FWIW I don’t think this is necessarily going to be the most pristine transfer given the probable limited dynamic range and SN specs of a PCMCIA sound card compared to a Sound Blaster Live card’s input side. But, if a notebook is all that’s available it will have to do.

Those links are pretty much what I dug up. I’m not too worried about having a pristine transfer (I still buy just about everything on vinyl, and I’ll be converting them to MP3s for use in my car)… for some reason, my current cheapo sound card will only record in mono through the mic input.

I suppose I could try to find a bargain on one of those USB audio interface thingies… they’re pretty sweet, though a bit overpowered for my needs.
