Try substituting alcohol into that ‘litany’ of horrors. PCP is a classic case of attributing directly to a drug things that would otherwise be automatically attributed to the individual or other factors if the drug in the perpetrator’s system were alcohol.
And the litany is hardly a long list. There are in fact only a handful of incidents attributed to PCP over half a century. In all cases there is a deliberate ignoring of any and all other factors, the notion that nice sweet people suddenly became psychotic killers because of a drug they ingested.
PCP is not a nice, fun drug, but it doesn’t give people superhuman strength, turn them into killers or magically make them able to withstand being shot repeatedly. The bad behaviour often popularly attributed to PCP reads exactly like the behaviour of someone who is drunk.
