Peanut calories

When eating peanuts, some of them seem to pass straight through undigested (that is bits of them can be seen in stools). Does this mean that I can eat more of them than I should if I am calorie counting or is this “undigested effect” taken in to account in the calorific value of peanuts?

Thanks for any advice.

My guess is that you’re not chewing your food well. Perhaps that could be the basis for a new diet - the swallow-it-whole diet.

I am a habitual non-chewer. I probably eat a 16 oz ribeye in about 8-12 whole pieces. I’ve had more than one doctor claim that satiety is connected with every step of the process and chewing well makes you significantly less hungry afterwards.

If any of them are bigger than Verne Troyer, see a doctor.

To answer the OP, anything that winds up in the stool has by definition not been digested, and calories only come from digestion.

I would emphatically not recommend, however, that you gulp peanuts in the hope of not digesting them. Find a less calorie-dense snack.
