The one in Longmont does not have pecan pie.
Try Perkin’s, S. Colorado at I-25. Call first, since I do not know first hand if they have pecan, but they have several varieties of pies, so they may have something for you.
Dickey’s Barbecue, several locations in the Denver area, has pecan pie in single-pie-slice-shaped containers, but check the date, since I have had a slice or two that were stale.
This won’t necessarily help you in Denver, but the best places for pecan pie are where they pronounce it “p’CON” (the “p’” may be silent!). If they pronounce it “PEA can”, how good can it be if they don’t even know how to say it?
The Perkins near me does not have pecan pie.
There’s no such thing as the best pecan pie, they’re all the same.
Asking for the best anything will just get you a list of places.
There is only a “worst” pecan pie, which would be:
Undercooked
Overcooked
Forgot the pecans
And nobody would intentionally or regularly do any of those things, so a single instance wouldn’t be representative.
For the last time, I doubt that you’re gonna find a “piece” of pecan pie in your geographic limitations.
All you’re trying to do is find out if you like pecan pie. Fine.
Again, go to your local major grocery store. Go to the frozen food section. See if they have Marie Callender’s frozen pecan pie. It should cost no more than $8. Buy it. Take it home and defrost overnight in the fridge. Take it out the next day, when you’re ready to eat, cut a slice and try it.
It’s a commercial pie, but the best one of the type. Eat it. Did you enjoy it?
Yes, if you go down South and get a local piece of pie, it’ll probably be better. An 8 or 9 out of 10. But you’re eating a 6-7 out of 10 frozen pie.
Other than that, what does it matter.
There is a Pappadeaux’s seafood restaurant in the Denver area.
Go there, have a bowl of sausage and seafood gumbo, fried crawfish or whatever else appeals to you. Get a piece of sweet potato pecan pie for dessert.* You will not regret it.**
*There is a recipe online for Pappadeaux’s sweet potato pecan pie with bourbon sauce. I think I will attempt making it for Thanksgiving, or ask the resident master pie maker to make it.
**unless you’re allergic to sweet potatoes, in which case it might kill you. But you will die happy.
Do they have Waffle House in Denver? They’ll sell you a slice of pecan pie.
I think you want a Village Inn. Lots of them in Colorado! Good pies!
