Pecan Pie Without The Pecans

Sounds like a giant Butter Tart to me.

I was thinking butter tart or sugar pie (Tarte au sucre)?

Heretic. True Believers use Karo Syrup. :stuck_out_tongue:

My wife loves chocolate pecan pie but I can’t stand pecans, so she makes me chocolate pecan-less pie. Lately, she’s just been replacing the pecans with peanuts, and it’s fantastic.

Fine. You won’t get any. :stuck_out_tongue:

That sounds amazing.

I’m standing on the molasses side of the room for pecan pie and voting for good ole Hoosier sugar pie for the mystery pecanless wonder.

It could also be vinegar pie, which is a close relation to chess pie.

Might it be “Mock Pecan Pie”, made with pinto beans? There are lots of recipes by Googling.

That crap is a sin against all that anyone holds holy. A friend’s wife tried to pass some off on us one night while camping.

We don’t camp with them anymore.

That ought to fix them, by God!

My mother used to make Buttermilk Pie - very similar to chess but different.

I used to get made fun of by the neigborhood kids until they tried it.

Oatmeal pie. My wife makes it every Thanksgiving.

It did, it did. My wife can outcook anybody of the group, so they’ve been on crap rations every trip since.

It sounds like that’s “just” a layer of dulce de leche (easy to make by boiling up some condensed milk), poured into a crust, with bananas and whipped cream.

Oh, my aching pancreas.

(with my sweet tooth, that sounds too much even for me, though I’d happily try it).

Of course, now I want some too, or some chess pie at the least - all the years I lived in North Carolina and I never had any.

Were their bodies ever found? Please tell me they were never found.

Egad. I don’t love pecans, but beans??? (I don’t like Japanese desserts with bean paste, either).

Next people will be claiming they don’t need apples to make pie, either!

Get your wife in here, because we need this recipe, stat.

I love pinto bean pie. It’s even better than circus peanuts. Seriously, the ones my mama made kicked ass.

My French Canadian relatives used to make a maple sugar pie. More of a tart, a pie crust with maple sugar and cream, it was flat and served in small wedges.

Hell no. Sounds worse than Ritz cracker “apple” pie. Just no, and I will try almost anything.
