Aaah crap, now I really want some PIE! Store bought is faster but tastes like ass and apathy. My tummy is calling for what my sister calls Mason-Dixon pie - basically a pecan pie baked on top of a New York style cheesecake and my thighs are lying to be by saying I can get by with only eating one piece. Yeah, riiiight.
Good gravy - I hear Baby Jesus crying.
I’m not sure that can be counted as praise.
I’ve never had pinto bean pie, but navy bean pie is quite delicious, and reminiscent of sweet potato or pumpkin pie. I’d be happy to give mock pecan pie made with pinto beans a shot. Beans work quite well in sweet contexts. I mean, they’re just basically starch with only a subtle flavor of their own.
Sent her a message; she said she’ll look it up tonight.
I couldn’t find this Mason-Dixon pie by googling. Sounds awesome. Do you have the recipe?
That’s exactly what it is. I’ve made it for my husband - he loves it, me, not so much. I didn’t get the appeal, but each to his own, I guess.
This is the name I know for a pecan-less pecan pie.
Or make it with golden syrup and ground almonds, you have treacle tart.
Saltire, I wish I had the recipe. I have been trying to figure it out off and on for a while now but it’s not quite right yet. I know the cheesecake needs to be parcooked prior to adding the pecan pie filling. Beyond that, I can’t be much help.
I came in to vote for shoo-fly pie.
Damn. Now I also want pie.
I see what you did there.
(Even if you really do like circus peanuts, you have to know that they are infamous as a type of candy a lot of people hate.)
