I’ve, as said above, encountered both. As far as I’m concerned, a dick is a dick. They are all basically the same. I don’t know or understand why some cultures/ religions choose to circumcise for religious traditional reasons.
I have thoughts, but seriously no one really cares.
I did not get my son circumcised, because I did not want him to be different to other boys. As a migrant, I had too much of being different to the other boys. And the country where we live is mostly non-circumcised.
But when he actually went to school, I found that the state school system had become terrified of nakedness, and he’s never seen a naked boy in his entire school life. At his junior school graduation performance, parents were told that they could send their kids with clothing under their clothing, otherwise other kids might see their underwear while they were changing.
So I’m disappointed that I didn’t insist on circumcision. Because, although I’m told that it doesn’t matter as long as you keep it clean, I’ve got no idea how to keep it clean, and nothing to teach my kid. It’s not something I was taught or had any personal experience with.
My mother had a slightly different viewpoint, but left the decision entirely to me and my wife. The first part of her different viewpoint was that, as a family medical doctor, she took the position that the mother was always right. The second part was that, as a family medical doctor, old, American, and dealing largely with handicapped, minority, or third-world children, she was disgusted with obstetricians who thought that circumcision should be done only to their own children.
Perhaps they mean wearing shorts and a tshirt under their clothes so when they take off their school clothes to put on the robes of a jr high scholar they’re covered up maybe the changing areas aren’t so private. And who wants to be half naked under a flimsy gown even if it is academic regalia.
But what makes me roll eyes is jr high graduation, it is a thing here in the USA too.
When I graduated from various events, we simply added the silly robes over our normal street clothes. No removing of clothes to add a robe. Color me baffled that taking off clothes is even part of the process. Much less folks being antsy about that.
