Penn State (University Park) Students--Help A Guy Out With Parking

I’ve got to go to State College on Saturday to take the GRE. I’ve been to State College several times, but I’ve never really tried to get anywhere on the campus. I need to get to the Thomas building, and the map I pulled sure makes it look easy enough. Just go up 26 until I get to until some street whose name I’m not sure of (maybe Garner St.) then hang a right. Go until Pollock Rd. and then I’m there. Problem is, I’m not sure about parking. According to the PSU website, I won’t need to deal with a permit or a meter or anything like that as long as I can find a parking lot that isn’t specifically posted against visitor parking. Do you know anything about the parking off Pollock across from Thomas and what looks to be a field or quad? They’re the ones next to the Undergrad (Pollock) Library and Wolf and Ritner Halls. Or do you know of anywhere else I can park that won’t require me hiking across the campus? I considered calling the school for information, but I can’t find a phone number.

You’ll take a right onto Shortlidge Road from College Ave (it’s Garner Street if you go the other direction), and yeah, Thomas is right on the corner of Shortlidge and Pollock.

The lots you indicated are open for weekend parking as are most of the lots in and around that collection of Residence Halls. Another close option is to take a left onto Pollock and park in the lot behind Osmond Building (the way to the lot is pretty well marked).

There is a parking garage on Shortlidge just before Pollock, and while most of the lower levels are metered, the upper levels are faculty/staff lots during the week and used to be open on weekends (I don’t know if they still are though). Basically, most lots are open for weekend parking, and those that are not are very well marked.
