Penna. Charities that Pick Up Furniture Donations?

Does Goodwill exist in your area?

Thanks—just posted to Craig’s List!

Goodwill is very fussy about what they will take, as we found out when my father died.

Wow—got four answers so quickly from Craig’s List that I went back and deleted my ad!

They all sound like very nice people: a Lizzie Borden, a Chuck Manson, two fellows named Burke and Hare, and someone just called “BTK.” I’ll arrange to meet them alone in my mom’s empty apartment, I’m sure everything will go fine . . .

Oh, so that nice Dr Knox will end up with the furniture.

If the Salvation Army will take it. They’re very picky about furniture donations–there’s a glut of people who need to get rid of furniture before they move. I had a nice, clean sectional sofa that there guy refused because there was a silver-dollar sized threadworn patch on the upholstery on the back of the sofa. I ended up “bribing” them $30 to take it.

Real life experience in da Burgh (still, it’s PA, right?):
Salvation Army will pick up, but quite picky. The find of the year: Disabled Veterans. They literally took everything.
