I saw a Pennsylvania license plate today (I live in Ohio) and noticed that instead of the usual state nickname or tourism motto, the bottom of the plate read: www.state.pa.us
Seems like a good idea. Any other states do this, or plan to?
I actually think they’re pretty hokey, but perhaps not as hokey as the “You’ve Got a Friend In…” plates from a few years ago. Pennsylvania has also put their Web address on the “Welcome” signs on some of the major highways entering the state. Oops… I mean this picture. $%$$%^&# brackets.
I have no idea why that happened. Just Cut & Paste from my first post and I’ll crawl away & reread the UBB instructions. :o
I personally think it’s pretty dumb. I can just see it–“Your Honor, I didn’t hit that kid because I was negligent, I was just tryin’ to read the web address on the plate ahead of me…”
Also, if you’re not from Pennsylvania you may not have heard…many licence plate holders block off part of the plate from view. Ordinarily no one cares as long as you can see the state and number, but now the blocked part is the web address. It turns out that’s an offense, punishable by a fine. (It’s not being enforced, and the General Assembly is supposedly going to decriminalize web address-blocking.)
