Pentagon Spokeswoman Victoria Clarke

I find her very attractive. I don’t know if it’s her appearance (that little squint is something!), her intelligence, or her lucidity. I find myself paying a great deal more attention to her than to Maj. Gen. McChrystal during their briefings.

Any one else have an opinion either way on her?

She is an incredibly intelligent woman, and comes off as quite sophisticated to boot. I’m impressed with her on all counts. But I wish she’d lose those horrible pink outfits she likes to wear to press conferences (you know the ones I’m talking about: ugly floral and plaid designs).

WHAT?!?

I repeat: WHAT!?!?

BUT SHE IS SO THOROUGHLY DEFENSIVE AND BITCHY UP THERE THAT SHE IS HURTING THE CAUSE MORE THAN SHE’S HELPING IT. GET HER ASS OUT OF THERE AND REPLACE HER WITH SOMEONE WITH BETTER PEOPLE SKILLS. SHE’S JUST OBNOXIOUS.

(But yes, I confess I too find her attractive – I’m a sucker for short-haired blondes with her kind of face. Oh well, little stuybrain and big stuybrain don’t always agree.)

Um her husband is a big guy. I went to his birthday party a few months ago. They are family friends…

I’ll let him know about this thread, I’m sure he’ll appreciate it.

All I’m saying is that I find her attractive. I’m not going to stalk her or put up a shrine in my basement or anything like that. I think she’s very attractive, intelligent, straightforward, and I enjoy the briefings in part because of her.

Mr. Clarke is a lucky guy.

Worst. Dressed. Spokesperson. Ever.

Honestly, it’s as if she shops at Mister Magoo’s House of Colorblind Fashion.

My impression exactly, RickJay. Especially that sub-Mondrian-like jacket she wore, uh, about 10 days ago. Hideola.

There’s one more thing about her that I hope someone will point out to her: her tendency to succumb to intonational rise. That is the rising pitch in one’s voice that occurs naturally at the end of a sentence. When it occurs unchecked throughout all of one’s speech, it is what used to be called “Valley Girl” speech.
